I came upon this book purely on accident, and I am really glad for it! I got a whole lot personally out of this book. Sunday Adelaja is a Nigerian pastor in the largest church in the Ukraine, and in this book he shares his experiences on how he ended up in Ukraine, and the challenges that he faced there. But interspersed throughout his own personal story are also discussions about the mission that God has for individuals and for the church. Sunday uses many examples, but most prominently Moses, to encourage his readers to find their own "promised land" and go and make disciples, instead of holding back and being content with just sitting on the sidelines. This book was inspiring, encouraging, and caused me to begin considering more fully what God truly has intended for me, and the steps I need to take to find my own "promised land" as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially to those who struggle with the question "what am I supposed to be doing with my life"?

This rating/review is based on getting to about page 60 of this book. I couldn't read past that. I found the storyline to be not all that interesting. Hardly any of the main characters were likable people. And it was coarse and vulgar. After 60 pages, I knew I couldn't read another couple of hundred pages of this. Disappointing chick lit!
I thoroughly enjoyed "Ragtime" so much so that I want to read more Doctorow. The characters in this book and the setting jump out of the pages. Just in terms of form, "Ragtime" is similar to "Pulp Fiction" and "Crash" where you have seemingly incongruent story lines and characters that converge. It is a formula that I tend to enjoy. Doctorow does it well, and the turn of the centuty backdrop that he depicts is wonderful. An easy, short read that I highly recommend.

I avoided readign manga's for the longest time and I'm not sure why. This was the first manga series I read and I love the story so far. I think it's a story a lot of people can relate to.

One of my favorite books of all time. I can read this one over and over...and they made a movie! What more could you ask for?!

i have been trying to finish this for so long. sigh.
We listened to this book on audio cd during a family trip. At several points, none of the kids wanted to get out of the car when we stopped: they wanted to keep listening. A fast paced thriller that turns more and more creepy. I did not like this book as well as Maze Runner but it really made me think if I could survive under the extreme conditions they had.

I used this as part of a Doreen Cronin author study with Kindergarten in the fall. It was the last book of the Duck and Farmer Brown series that we read and I had it work out so that we read it right around the election in November. After we read it, we talked about responsibility and what it means to be responsible and who was responsible in the story. Then, each kid voted for who they thought should be in charge of the farm by coming up and sticking a picture of either Duck or Farmer Brown (printed out and cut ahead of time by me, colored by them) on a picture graph on the easel paper. Even though they understood that Farmer Brown was more responsible, Duck won in every class. He's just funnier!
Unlike every other reviewer I thoroughly disliked Eat, Love, Pray and enjoyed this one immensely although it did start out slow

Wow. Tour de force. Finished it and started right back on page one to re-connect the brilliant pieces.
