This was a pretty good read and different from what I've been reading lately. I would say its of the dystopian genre. It's not chic lit, so definately guy friendly! Boys are trapped in the glade with their memories wiped and they have to try and solve the maze. Creapy creatures attack them. A girl comes in and throws everyone off, as she's the only girl. It's pretty much an experiment that the creators of the glade are putting these kids thru to test their smart skills! Apparently there is a nasty epidemic that the world is going thru. While they story is good and keeps you interested, it's really creepy what and why these poor kids are being used for. We'll find out more in the sequel, The Scorch Trials.

Awakened was like any other House of Night book but with a different plot. I'm not sure why I continue to read the series but I'm guessing it has to do with the drama that has kept me glued to every page. Awakened continues after Zoey's soul is returned to her body and is temporarily taking sanctuary at Skye with Sgiach. As Neferet discovers that Kalona didn't fulfill his duty, she begins to go back to planning on how to get rid of Zoey Redbird. This was just a very simple and easy read. It's not one of my favorites but it was enjoyable. Of course there were still some relationship dramas and many more surprise deaths. *Minor Spoilers* I did feel like the characters no longer had use besides fueling Zoey's hatred for Neferet and felt as though their deaths happened too fast. I know that sounds pretty strange but if you've already read it, it was only like a paragraph. (Exaggeration) The writing for this book was very easy, but I did feel like there was an over usage of the word love. It was used so often that the feelings don't get across to me anymore and couldn't fully comprehend how much they actually cared about each other. Overall this was a fun easy read and would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a drama filled book.

I think I hated this book when I first read it. While I am pretty sure it was just teenage angst, I still feel a little embarrassed that I discussed burning it with my 10th grade teacher. Mr. Thornburg, I have repented. Pride and Prejudice is on pretty much everyone in the world's top five list, and that includes mine.

This book is one of my favorites. Because I like it so much, I'm not going to say much, except that it's always worth reading, even if you have read it before. There's a scene in this book it's a revealed that a high-up publisher gives all his manuscripts to his cleaning lady, and she's the one that tells him whether they're worth publishing or not. When he asks her why she read a particularly disturbing novel, she answers "To find out what happens next." Later, she adds, "A book's true when you can say "yeah! That's how damn people behave all the time." This says a lot about John Irving. I love John Irving in particular, partly because I'm always wondering what's always going to happen next, and partly because, despite all the outrageousness of his characters, they behave the way real people behave. Of course, I wouldn't want to be a John Irving character, because terrible things are always happening to them. They're orphaned, abandoned, stranded, confused or unhappily pregnant. They're the victims of rape, car accidents, and infidelity. They're a mess (and Garp may get the worst lot of all) but that's why I like them. Some authors fade to black when things get gruesome, messy, or explicit, but John Irving never does (and life never does). Some authors use disasters or deaths or drama to end their novels, but John Irving understands that those things aren't really closure, they don't really end anything; they just force you to get up and continue, wounded or not. I could continue for a while, about John Irving, and why I love him, but as they said on Reading Rainbow, "Don't take my word for it..."

I loved this book. It was just clever and hilarious, and I loved the footnotes. The point of view felt genuine and fresh, heartfelt instead of gimmicky. Colin is an almost washed-up child genius, now a teenager, who has only dated (and been broken up with by) nineteen Katherines. Did I mention that this book was hilarious? Because it was, and I tried to read it while exercising on the elliptical and had an almost catastrophic breathing failure due to trying to laugh and keep pedaling at the same time. The thing is, I knew pretty much exactly where this book was going at all times, but I didn't care, because it wasn't where the plot went, it was the way it got there that was so enthralling and entertaining.

So far this has been a fun story. William and Maddy are such a cute couple. I love all the elderly people at the place Maddy works at. William was a Dragon for hundereds of years and now he is learning to be human again in a totally differnt world. William is so old fashion and protective of Maddie. However, he is trying to fit into modern society in his black leathers riding on his motor cycle. He's a hunky man on a motor cycle...giving turns to the ederly to ride on the back as he drives. He is giving the ederly at the home some joy and excitement. Awww he is sooo sweet.

Shel Silverstein is a poet genius. Although his poems are made for 3rd graders (or below) I LOVE HIS POEMS! There's one that i remember that's written in a circle and it goes on and on and i love it. It's so silly. I am not a poetry fan but Shel Silverstein's poems can never get old for anyone. His concrete poems are always my favorite. I would suggest reading some of his poems to anyone of any age because they're so great and if you haven't experienced his poems you're missing out!

Hothead Paisan, the fantasy of being of being an ultra violent queer vigilante where there are no negative consequences from any of your actions, I wish life was more like this.

Geez, I didn't expect this to be so racist (in the perhaps trying not to be but doing it SO wrong sense). 1989 obviously called. Too bad though, it's a sweet little book.
