Still working through this one - but with about 200 pages to go, I really feel the momentum picking up. I'll be sad when it's done.

Baru nyadar kalo lupa disisipkan link resensinya, teringat krn lagi baca genre time travel berjudul Time Riders. Krn resensinya panjang bgt, spoiler seperempat buku gitu, yg pgn baca resensi versi panjangnya klik di sini aja. :) Ini salah satu novel time travel romance favoritku sepanjang masa, rekomendasi bgt buat yg suka 2 genre tsb. Salah satu novel yg bakal terus dibaca berulang-ulang. X[

This book was extremely helpful in illustrating the basic concepts of analytical chemistry and sharing several interesting applications to get you beyond the "how" these techniques work into the "why" most of these techniques are used to begin with. I would recommend it for anyone interested in analytical chemistry; it is a fun and easy read.

This book is effective, in its way, with some fine behind-the-scenes glimpses of Hollywood, mobsters, and the country club crowd, and Archer is good too, making more than a few weary observations about how private detecting has changed him, and not for the better. We get our first sustained look at a sadder, wiser Archer (we have had more than a few short glimpses before), and he is frank in telling his audience--and a few other characters who will listen--how the shabbiness of the search for truth can soil a man. Perhaps this "sustained look" at the man is the main trouble with the book. Archer journeys into the self, but it is not the same journey that the narrative must take, and, rather than complementing each other, the reflections and commentary often seem to be at odds with the plot. The Barbarous Coast is inferior to Macdonald's earlier triumphs, such as Find a Victim, but even here we can sense that he is moving toward something richer, something that will soon lead him on to even greater achievements. The Galton Case is not far away.
I was flattered by the dedication for obvious reasons: To English teachers of America, doing good work every day, with admiration and affection from an old students. It is an amazing collection of poetry (a good bit of which I had never read before).
Too much side chatter and not much story. Great for bed time reading you'll be asleep in no time.

I admit I still don't get the appeal of this whole stepbrothers- forbidden love thing, but the art was pretty and it made for nice reading during my lunchbreak. Nothing too memorable, though.

I know. I didn't read them until 11th grade. I'm sorry, I didn't know. This is not the edition I would read, by the way. I prefer the boxed set with the formard from Peter S. Beagle in 1969. It has Tolkien's artwork.
