This book is a slow read for me, but I like the idea of throwing my life overboard to find happiness! Very inspiring!

I might not have played much D&D, but I loved buying and reading their supliments for ideas. Most of their campaign settings were foundational to FRPGs, but by the time I was in highschool I was tired of high-fantasy, and most D&D settings were either cliched (Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Birthrigth) or lame (Ravenloft, Starjammers). Dark Sun was the most original thing I'd seen at the time, just when I was tiring of high-fantasy. Dark, violent, and alien, this inspired many a new, exciting adventure.

Not a bad read. There were some nice moments and turns of phrase, but Davy Rothbart isn't quite the modern-day Jack Kerouac he so obviously envisions himself to be.
If you loved the movie, or if you love Nick Hornby it's a must read. It takes you deeper into the friendship between Will and Marcus in a classic Hornby way. A breeze to read but substantive as well.

ry events that occur;
this is my favorite novel of all time. i also taught this two years in a row in an inner city school, where we had some interesting discussions about race and the power of A Word. mark twain is a brilliant story teller and an honest cultural critic.
** spoiler alert ** I really enjoyed listening to this book. Sometimes it is hard for me to tell if I like the book or the narrator. In this case, I think it was both. Robinson does a nice job of developing her characters by giving us glimpses into their past. I can't say that the ending was wholly satisfying, but it was honest and realistic--and I knew about Della before meeting her!

Ginny's aunt's last wish is for her to take a whirlwind trip around Europe. The catch: she can't contact anyone from home by phone or e-mail (snail mail is encouraged), she can only travel with a backpack, and she must follow the instructions left to her in the 13 blue envelopes, opening them one by one as directed. As she makes her way through London, Edinburgh, Paris, and beyond, she learns a little more about her aunt and herself. A great story about a girl finding her own way through life.
