I love watching Eragon and the other character's development throughout the series. I can't wait for the release of the fourth novel!

Didn't finish it. might have if there hadn't been better things to read around. I mainly like the jacket. I'm not in a place to like weird family structures. and an ailing pastor with a very young son that he writes too instead of plays with, turns me off. the little tale about his grandfather were interesting, but i got lost on who was who and it was moving to slow. I don't mind reading about death, but this guy was too pompous right now for me.

Maybe it was something about reading this book while I was in Paris, but it is as good as all that has been said about it!
first Mcewan I read and made me want to read more. Now I've read nearly everything he's written so it must have been a good starting point March 3rd 2008 I wanted to re-read this book before I saw the film and having done so I feel it deserve an upgrade to 5 stars and a place on my "favourites" shelf. Even when you know the book and you know the end the enjoyment isn't lost. And when you know the plot there is more time to enjoy the spectacular writing. The book stirs very strong emotions in me. I felt real hatred and contempt for Briony and this only gradually started to ebb towards the end of the book. The story actually makes you very angry, but this doesn't dull the enjoyment of the reading. Im a big McEwan fan and I think this book is an important modern classic. I'm really looking forward to the film as I not one of those people who always feels the film ruins the book, I'm just intreiged to see how its done.

A true classic, this book has more allusions and critical analysis possible than most books (with the obvious exception of The Crying of Lot 49). It also happens to be a most melancholy love story, and begs the question of exactly who we all are when we happen to forget ourselves.

I didn't particularly like this one.

Amazing that this book was written by a 93 year old gentleman

I'm really loving these books. The way Martin writes is brilliant. It's gotten to the point that I get mad if I run into someone on the subway because it means I have to stop reading and socialize.
