As I am currently reading this, I can't say to much on it other he gets some of his facts wrong about Henry Clay Frick. That's only from what I tell visitors coming to West Overton from the tour information. Other than that, I am learning more about the Homestead Strike and the events leading up to it.
decided to do a re-read.

Hooked me in from the first paragraph. Have shared it with reader friends of mine who appreciate a great story, thoughtful twists and turns and well-written literature.

Ok, this book creeped the hell out of me. It describes an all too plausible scenario following a successful nuclear/electromagnetic pulse attack on America which results in the destruction of almost all electronic devices. The book has a slight conservative bent, but nothing so overt that it pulls your attention away from the horror of the situation. Things like former executives prostituting themselves for a bowl of weak soup, diabetic children unable to get insulin, marshal law, public executions, county-level firefights over resources, mass suicides and cannibalism. Don't read this book if you want to believe America is invulnerable, but DO read it if you are prepared to be riveted, horrified, and, perhaps most importantly, enlightened as to the fragility of the systems and infrastructure we all currently take for granted and what can be done to protect them. Heavy stuff!
I found this book interesting and intriguing, with some really great quotes but it is what it claims to be: a Booky Wook. Fun reading, insightful in a way about addiction, but seems to blow it all off as frivolity. What do you expect from a comedian though?
i read this book twice already. once, because i wanted to and the second time around for a book club. i have to say, out of all the erwin mcmanus books, i like this one the best. but mcmanus' gift is on the podium, he's a wonderful speaker. a consistent feeling i get after listening to him is a profound sense of validation. it's a nice feeling to walk out of a church like that. might i add, the soul craving series on podcast is a good companion to the book.

YEAH! I finished the Saga - hopefully now my sleeping habits will return to normal. This was, by far, my FAVORITE book of the whole series. I love, love, LOVE this book. OK...OK...I'll write my review. Breaking Dawn - The final chapter in the Twilight saga. Edward and Bella are intertwined as always leaving Jacob to come to terms with what Bella means to him and finding his own way dealing with his issues. Bella in the meantime is still torn between 2 loves. (Give me a break - what's to decide?! Hello?! Edward!) However, once Bella follows through on her committment the book picks up at lightening speed. Thank God. You actually start to like Bella again and Jacob becomes mildly likeable. But everything isn't always what it seems. Soon Edward and Bella's unbelievable life takes a turn for the worse and Edward is faced with his toughest decision yet. ...And this is where you need to read the book to find out the rest. Did I mentioned that I LOVE this book - Breaking Dawn?

** spoiler alert ** Unexpected sad ending that I could have done without. Kind of deceiving considering the happy looking picture on the cover.
