This book is higher than 3 stars in terms of quality - it's a tour de force, in truth. It certainly caught and held fast my attention. But it is unrelentingly grim, and few of the characters are particularly likable. What can I say? My tastes run to lighter reading.

My first Chuck book. It's very twisted [obv] but the ending is one of my favorites... I'm usually disappointed by the endings of books but I love this one.
I read this book right after the Spike Lee movie came out when we were living in Chicago. It was painful, but also very thoughtful and inspiring--and I don't know anyone in my life now who's read it. It takes on race, inequality, opportunity, moral character, charismatic exploitation, personal conversion and change. I really liked it, and I'd love to discuss it with more people.
years ago, i was searching for a jeanette winterson book when a boy in a bookstore came up to me, asked what i was looking for, then took me by the arm and led me to this book, placed it in my hands, saying, "you will love this." i went back to that bookstore to thank him, only to find out he didn't even work there. _aureole_ pulled at something inside me and had me swimming in its language by the first page, which had me in tears. this book validated the way i write--knowing the rules, and then breaking them. it is sensual and dreamlike and unlike anything else i've read.
This was a cute, fun, light book that I read on a road trip and couldn't stop, a fairy tail! Fun summer read.
I gave this book a low rating more for how depressing I found it, rather than the quality of writing. But, a sad sad read.

This is the first book I read from the author. It kept my attention throughout the entire read and what I liked about it the best was I didn't quite figure out the whole plot. I would have gave it four stars but I didn't like the bit about the womens murder club....kind of lame
** spoiler alert ** Una narración breve y muy introspectiva narrada en primera persona, con "finales" felices

This book is a great way to understand how a person with Asperger's might see the world. It is not only insightful and educational, but also has a narrative arch that made me really want to keep reading.
Too slow. Never finished.
