This looked so promising... then it turned out to be about an atheist's revelation of the reality of God, and not in a subtle, thought-provoking way, but ham-fisted and utterly partisan. (I looked up the publisher after I finished and learned that they put out predominantly religious material.) Brilliant physics student, Seth, suddenly (shortly after developing a mathematical formula that is supposed to demonstrate that God cannot exist) begins having brief visions of the future, only a few seconds ahead. At first the only effect is to allow him to anticipate minor problems and avoid them. Then the visions start coming further ahead and lasting longer. When he meets a young Saudi woman named Miriam, a member of the royal house, who has fled from her homeland rather than be forced into an unwanted marriage, his precognition helps them escape the men who have followed her to the US, intending either to take her back to the Middle East, or kill her. One step ahead of their pursuers, they flee across the country, and Seth's increasing gift shows him multiple possible futures, including the means for him and Miriam to escape from each perilous situation. Along the way, the State Department and FBI join the hunt for the pair. And of course they fall in love, and in the midst of it all (while waiting for circumstances to fall in line to create a way out of yet another trap), they discover that praying to God - very specifically the Christian God - causes their seemingly impossible quandary to change just enough for them to get away again. Unfortunately, Dekker's obvious religious bent throughout the book makes this turn of events totally predictable. Supposedly the (horrific) portrayal of life for women in Saudi Arabia is quite accurate - I would have enjoyed this more if Dekker had been able to deliver the story with considerably less of his own beliefs on display.

** spoiler alert ** Good Reads Matt Eyers Five days in London by: John Lukacs The story of "Five days in London" is a story about Winston Churchill and how he saved the world from Hitler. this book takes place in may of 1940 in Europe. it gives great detail about the five days of the story may 24th to may 28th. May 24 1940 Winston Churchill decides not to negotiate with Hitler but to continue to fight and stop Hitler. Winston Churchill was announced prime minister earlier that same month but still being challenged for power from the Conservative Party by Lord Halifax.. Halifax wanted to keep Britain out of the war and desperately wanted to negotiate something with Hitler. Churchill knew that if they let Hitler win he would rule the whole continent so he argues against and challenges Halifax to keep Britain in the war to stop Hitler. Hitler as the power house of Germany wants to sweep over all of Europe so he can rule it all and be unstoppable but Winston was never going to let that happen. This book is man Vs man because Winston and Hitler are enemies and they have to see who's a bigger man. the genre is conflict and war. I chose this interesting war story because of my sister said it was a eventful, knowledgeable book. This story is a great book for young kids that don't know much about Hitler its a story inside one of the most eventful times in the worlds history. john Lukacs has a moderate writing style likes to make you feel like your right there in the time period with Winston and Halifax.
