One of the best science fiction books in my opinion, and definitely the best of the series. Really puts a good perspective on war and how one society tends to alienate another to fight them. Also a great commentary on how children and young adults come to realize how they are shaped and molded.

Rogue Rider surprised me. After a bit of disappointment in Lethal Rider, Thanatos's story, Ms. Ione made up for it with Reseph/Pestilence's story. With theme's of redemption, second chances, and healing, this book covered a lot of ground and involved all of the Horsemen, their mates, and lots of political maneuverings between Heaven and Hell. There was a certain character that I suspected had greater importance than it seemed and I was excited to find out I was right! No spoilers here, though. Fans of the series will have already read this book. For those readers who haven't experienced Ms. Ione's world, I suggest you run to your nearest bookstore and grab all the entries in the Demonica/Horsemen series. Yes, they are Urban Fantasy/Paranormal romance crack.

Eh. The text box that appears when you hover over the second star in the rating bar describes it perfectly: "it was ok." The author has an interesting premise: a disgraced psychiatrist, a little wild girl who mysteriously appears from the woods, and the "who did it?" mystery that ties it together. However, the writing just isn't that good. With some books you get over this and just enjoy the story, but I couldn't do it with this book. I felt like the author was imitating what she imagined was powerful, emotional writing. I honestly thought this was a debut novel so I was pretty shocked that the author has multiple bestsellers. (Man I sound like a book snob, don't I?) To be fair, I don't think I would have read this if it wasn't our book club pick. I think the fact that the back cover is a giant photo of the author is a clear indication of what kind of book this is and I would have put it right back down. And I finished it, so obviously the plot was compelling enough to make me skim to the end. It's just that with so many books in the world, I wished I spent these few hours on something else.

I read this book when I was young and was in a serious Eckert phase, and I've been thinking of returning to some of these books. They moved me deeply at the time and left a serious impression. Turns out, this was *so* worth rereading -- it's beautiful and powerful and brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait to share it with Anya in a few years!
I know, it's a classic, but none of us liked it. The book has no plot, it just random weird things that happen to Alice while she's dreaming that aren't even funny. Alice is whiny and rude. My kids have now taken to running around after each other shouting "off with your head" (most annoying) and this book is going back to the thrift store.

This wasn't her best book, but the plot kept me reading. I guess that says something.

The same thing goes on in like the other if you read the others.
Listened to it as an audio book. It was an excellent if somewhat bazaar and sad. There are so many ways a reader can respond to this fictional but true account of Ernest Hemingway's first marriage. I won't express my thought, other than to say that although I knew what would happen, I found the story to be riveting.
