I was slightly surprised at how good this book was. In general it's a fun, goofy, light mystery. If you enjoy mysteries yet don't want something too deep than this is perfect for you. To be honest I liked it so much that I'm curious to check out the sequels. A small warning to guys though: this book does tend to err on the side of Chick-Lit, so if you don't like that, you probably won't like this. One thing Collins did was try to steer clear of unintentional cliches. Of course when you do hit them it seemed like Collins knew it was cliched so would address it in a fashion that wouldn't make the reader roll their eyes. The book felt fresh and new in the bogged down world of mystery Chick-Lit. Though, to tell the truth, I can't compare much. Another pleasant surprise was that there wasn't one of those huge plot twists where a character you think you trust and you think is completely innocent ends up being the murderer. That actually ended up being a relief from all the writers who do that. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story that keep you (and Abby) guessing. In conclusion I have to say that my favorite part of the book was our introduction to Simon the cat. If you're a cat lover he's reason enough to read this book. His parts were always good for a giggle. Please tell me he continues his appearances in the other books. Also, just tell me how the other books compare to this one. Like I said, I enjoyed this book enough to check out the others. It was a fun and light beach read.
