Not sure why I keep reading this series. I guess I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. Anyone else think she might end up with Sam in the end?

Sidney Sheldon makes for the perfect summer guilty pleasure reading! Loved it!
As I did not read Volume 1 of the series I'm not sure I really followed the premise. Seriously. Perhaps Volume 1 would explain why these cute little bunnies have a death wish. Laid off from bunny jobs? Bunny divorce? Do they have some bunny terminal illness I'm not aware of? I plan to look into it and update my review.

A savage western love story. I'm in. Great art.

Suffers from that curiously and unfortunately endemic trait of pop-sci writing, the tiresome 'scientists in the field' vignette; lots and lots of these that, per usual, add little to the readers comprehension and take the reader away from what they're here for: in this case, the cephalopods! Three stars because, come on guys, friggin' awesome squids, right?

What is the role of the justice system? Must justice be served without regard to human subtleties? Where is the line between establishing a standard and making sure the system is just, and relating to crime on a human level to see its roots and effects? Assistant prosecutor Kenneth Hayes has been assigned to the case of Ruth Ballard, an old flame and former law school classmate. The two could not have more differing views on the law. Both consider themselves crusaders for justice. In Ken's view, this is best done through vigorous and unemotional prosecution of those accused of a crime; for Ruth, a self-proclaimed radical, the social justice of fighting for those who are oppressed, regardless of the law, is the only moral choice. Can these two reconcile their personal and professional disagreements, in the middle of a high-stakes legal trial that places them on opposing sides of the game? Of course they can, or it wouldn't be a good play now would it. An excellent play in my opinion, with well-written and edgy dialogue.

This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to know or understand spiritual/religious tolerance or just acceptance in general. People seem to have a tendency to think Hanh favors one over the other. But that criticism displays a misunderstanding of Hanh's whole reasoning, which is that a wider view and an inclusive mind will do more for our world and our hearts than a rigid never-changing belief.

Upon finishing I thought it was excellent. After re-reading and writing a paper on it I found it to be simply brilliant. A great read for anyone interested in the tensions of missions, faith and culture, or just a good novel.
