This is an excellent book to read for an interesting overview of how we ended up in what Friedmans calls the EC - Energy Climate Age. It is also Friedman's take on what the U.S. need to do to be the forerunner in changing our collusion course with nature and global existence.

The climax of the book was incrdible however it did become a little annoyingly dogmatic towards the end as well. Not enought to ruin it, but enough to knock it down one star in my estimation.

`Wizard & Glass`is the fourth volume in Stephen King`s `Dark Tower`series & im my opinion, a 5 star book. Roland & his comrades finally reach Topeka, after they managing to beat Blaine at his riddling. Although they reach Topeka, the majority of the book is a flashback, where Roland tells the others about his past & how he started in his pursuit for the Dark Tower. We find out more about his best friends Cuthbert & Alain in more detail & also about Rolands first love with Susan Delgado, which for me was the highlight of the book. Up to now, Roland has been pretty much just a shooting machine, with very little emotion to his character. But as Roland recalls his past we underdstand why. Not to give away the story, but lets just say his past is filled with love, passion, romance, but also with sorrow, pain & anger, & one starts to understand why Roland is the man he is around his comrades & why he is so obsessed about finding the Dark Tower . This book has everything you need; love, romance, sex, magic, battles & a good storyline with some twists along the way. The book consists of around 840 pages & takes a while to get through, however it`s really worth it. Together with `The Drawing of the three`, they are my favourite volumes out of the series so far. As I said it`s a long read, but it`s a goodread!!

I enjoyed this book a lot. It reminded me of my family's black lab (who was normal, not crazy like Marley) and who we loved very very much. I still miss her and think about her often. Although I don't believe in it, I like to imagine an afterlife where I can play with her again - a doghouse in the sky.

A teenage dork comes of age and learns about his (deceased) father. I do like some parts of this book- the music-geekiness, the mysteries, the full-on Catcher in the Rye hate. And it certainly is an engrossing book- I didn't put it down for days. But, well... I guess it didn't end quite as tidy as I would like. I don't know.

Stephen King introduction. Stephen King recommended book. Noted as "important to the genre we have been discussing" from Danse Macabre. King said Slime is a "wonderful novella." It is included in this compilation. 10/22/12: It is a darned shame that this anthology is out-of-print. Except for one story, I thought that all the stories were remarkably well-written and imaginative. I had to pay an arm and a leg for a used copy of this from Amazon. The Stephen King introduction is a hoot, especially since it was written in 1979 when King was still coming up in the world. If you can get your hands on a copy of this book, it is well worth the read.
