I think, like the rest of the world, I was gripped when news of Jaycee's 'rescue' after 18 years in captivity hit the headlines. This book chronicles those years and the events leading up to and following on from them in deeply affecting words. To read about the innocence that was taken away from her, the strength she found in her two girls that helped her cope at times when lesser people would have broken down and to see how her life and she as a person has changed from then to now is thought provoking. It is likely that Jaycee will never truly be able to put the events of her past behind her, but inn writing this book and sharing her story with the world, she has talen a huge leap forward into what I certainly hope is a better and brighter future.

A tale of men in the wilderness on the trail of something else. "For the panic of the wilderness had called to him in that far voice-the power of untamed distance- the enticement of the desolation that destroys. He knew in that moment all the pains of someone hopelessly and irretrievably lost, suffering the lust and travail of a soul in the final loneliness. A vision of Defago, eternally hunted, driven and pursued across the skiey vastness of those ancient forests fled like a flame across the dark ruin of his thoughts..."

A different slant on historical mystery. Well written with a good plot that contained much too much political intrigue for me that I couldn't follow. Characters were good.
Helpful in learning. Just haven't had time to use it as much as I would like. Not as geared towards those who have a basic understanding or knowledge of the language though.

very repeatitive, the ending seemed as if the author kind of gave up and just made something up in a hurry.
I received this book as a gift. I would have never purchased this book on my own. I just assumed it was a lame attempt to cash in on the recent popularity of zombies. Rather than being just a silly parody, it almost reads like a highly conceptual novel. This book is definitely a worthy diversion from your more "serious" reading.

This is another of my top five books. I try to read it once a year, because I always find something different to love. It contains my favorite book ending, "For now she knew what Shalimar knew: If you surrendered to the air, you could ride it." The book is a journey, but well worth the time.
