Not her best book, I enjoyed March and A Year of Wonders much more than this one. It picked up towards the end. It reminded me of the book about the Vermeer painting- Girl in Hyacinth Blue.

"Not your average vampire story, Sunshine is a fascinating look at a alliance between a woman who gets power and energy from sunlight, and who loves to feed others, and an ancient vampire fending off a blood feud. Their interactions ring true with the human experience, both positive and negative." Once again, with the blurb written for a Schuler bookshelf. What can I say, it's McKinley. I don't think I've met a book of hers I don't like. Thanks to Mary for bringing this one to my attention, because it's actually shelved in Horror.

While the theology goes a little sideways once in a while, the basic concepts of the book regarding the use and implications of media in worship and church are very thought provoking. Shane has a deep and brilliant way of thinking about cultural ramifications and where media has been, is and where it's going. A good read for any pastor.

I like books that have people in careers outside of law enforcement solving crimes. Glass blowing is not a familiar profession to me, so the extra tidbits give me an insight into something new.
I was so excited to read this book. It had received wonderful reveiws and the premise was so unique. The first half was not bad but it started dragging in the middle. I had to force myself to read that last one hundred pages. It became a chore. I would not discourage anyone from giving it a try. I think I am the only one who has given it a poor review. Maybe it was just not for me.
I really liked this book when I was growing up. It is a good lesson on appreciating what you have and not taking advantage of it. This is also just a neat fantasy story for young kids!

Really neat intermingling of dreams, psychology, a memoir of adoption and her general struggle for purpose. I liked it a lot, though the ending was a bit abrupt.
While the characters could be tedious at times, I love the inventiveness and atmosphere of this novel.
I listened to this on my way to work. Each time I put it on Malcolm Gadwell told me things that just blew my mind. This should be a mandatory reading for any parent, educator or city planner. It really changed the way I look at success.

Pretty good book. I like the suspense and mystery. The scenes and characters were described well by the author.
