Shaheda's making me read this...apparently if she needs help, so do I.

A look at life in India under the governance of Indira Gandhi, where utter despair is always oh-so-delicately balanced with hope. An eye-opener. This book made me uncomfortable at times, and it almost broke my heart, but it is such a heartfelt look at a country that balances so much beauty with so much ugliness that I recommend it to all.
i don't know why but i really did not like this book, which was disappointing as i usually really like walker's work. something just didn't click with me.

This one surprised me. It nabbed me and kept me reading, when I thought I might skim it or never finish it. The author is Isabel Gillies - who happens to sometimes star on one of my favorite TV shows - Law and Order: SVU. I was interested before I even knew who she was, but anyway, I digress. It is about the end of a marriage. Which is pretty tough stuff but somehow it wasn't too heavy handed or melodramatic. There was some confused desperation and I never did understand just why he left her - but the author says as much too. Still she comes across as a strong person and when you see she has moved on with her life, its pretty cool. There is more I'd like to add later...

Excellent!
The actual title of the book I read was "The Demon Trapper's Daughter" but based on the summary, it's the same book (same author).

Love love love it. A very quick read, but again, one of those children's books with a bigger picture. Loveable story for children, but still a great read for adults.
amazing
I like to watch the "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" show so was interested in reading their book about how the show came about, and get a little more personal information about their family. A light, quick read if you want to know more about them.
This was a huge disappointment. The author spends most of the book complaining about her training while offering little actual advice. She constantly refers readers to professional trainers since she has no experience in this area. Her reliance on sarcasm and self-deprecation grew wearisome and could not compensate for a lack of actual substance. Better reads include: The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer by David Whitsett, Forrest Dolgener, and Tanjala Kole Runner's World Complete Book of Women's Running: The Best Advice to Get Started, Stay Motivated, Lose Weight, Run Injury-Free, Be Safe, and Train for Any Distance by Dagny Barrios
