3.5 stars Some books just suffer from the length, either too short or a tad too long. This one falls in the later category. The beginning and middle part of this book are actually very interesting. It's a rather comical situation, you know, when a straight werewolf finds out that his mate is a guy. Usually, in some of other shapeshifter stories, this fact will be completely ignored for the sake of "Mate" concept. But in this one, Scott is having a hard time to accept that "I'm not gay, but my mate is". Until the last few chapters when Ted returns to New Orleans after the ceremony that supposedly breaks up their attraction. This one part is already weird: Suddenly Ted is attacked by some goons of a client, because he's a werewolf and he doesn't want Ted to tell anyone, however, he also thinks Ted does his job well and the client actually has given him money ... The other part is, Ted's return somehow making the sparks and chemistry between him and Scott slightly disappears. And the whole Ted cannot commit to Scott because he has a life in New Orleans, AFTER they actually consumated their love is another point that seems to be dragged on just to make this story fits "novel" category. I think if it is trimmed down few chapters, it will be better. Still, I give it 3.5 stars because I do like the story up till the middle part.

I am not one to read classical books, pretty much if it isn't geared towards todays teenagers it is probably over my head. But Jen said she was liking it so I thought I would give it a try. It was really hard for me a first to get into with the language but I kept with it and I really enjoyed it! The story was good and I really wanted to know what was going to happen next the entire way through the book. Once I got use to the language it was actually a pretty easy read.

This was like watching a Ben Stiller movie, only I had to read it and it took more than 2 hours. Awful

The writing style is somewhat disjointed and repetitive (How many times do I really need to read that the author does not speak Italian?) and the story itself has less of the excitement of the kitchen that I was hoping for and more self-counseling than I really wanted. Hamilton has certainly led an unconventional and at times troubled life and the book seems like more of a catharsis for her than entertainment for me.

Predictable, short easy read.

A good biography is worth the 500+ pages, and the time it takes to read it. The Gerald Clarke, biography of Truman Capote was worth every page turned, in my opinion. Capote was quite the character. I wish, wholly wish, I got to hob-knob along side him for a summer. To hear him laugh, snicker about the latest gossip and attend one of his parties. I have regret for something that is wholly impossible; to live near Capote and be able to experience his life, first-hand. I could say a lot about this book, but I think you should read it. Find your own joy in the pages of a life that seems almost impossible to be true. I enjoyed the library book I checked out, so much, that I promptly went and bought a copy for my own library. It is due for a re-read, very soon!

This was hands-down my FAVORITE Christopher Pike book. I still have images from some of the scenes, and I still think about it! The sequels, if I remember correctly, were not nearly as good and were kind of... weird. Hm. I think this one is definitely a re-read for me!
VERY excited about reading this book. i hope i haven't hyped it up too much - to myself! Had to return it to the library... haven't picked it up again yet. Later... bought a used copy on line, it's in the queue of books to read!
