Started this book 4pm yesterday and I could not put it down until I'd finished it at 1am this morning. Ms Holman is a Kiwi author and Bonkers is set on Auckland North Shore, not far from where I live, so it was fun to be able to visualise as events unfolded. I felt Lisa's frustration and just wanted to shake Dan to get him to understand. Although he was totally hot! Similar to Drop Dead Diva which has recently began on TV in New Zealand. I wonder if the tv series was based on this book?

Amazing autobiography -- I really feel for him and love how easily it is to relate to his situation. Also, the way he describes the illness of his mother and gives so little attention to the illness and death of his father interested me. I found some of his memories a bit too forced during descriptions of current happenings in his life, but overall he weaves quite the story. I appreciate that it's not completely chronological. He does drone a bit in some parts, which lead me to say, "Alright already! Your life sucked for a while - I get it!" I laughed more than I cried and I will always remember the characters as I could see elements of them in my own friends. Fantastic.
When i first started reading Ceremony I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. The way the author jumped around made it hard to follow at times. But about halfway through I began to really enjoy it and appreciate the way Silko wrote it. Her descriptions are great and she lays the story out in a way that leaves it up to the reader to piece it together. It's one of those books that you can read over and over and realize something new each time.
I read it when I was 18. it was the first book that ever made me cry.
I've read 3 other books by Michael Robotham and loved them. This was my least favorite so far but that being said, it held definitely held my interest. This book focused on Alisha Barba, the Sikh detective, who investigates the death of her friend Cate and her husband and the fate of their twins born to a surrogate mom. I have become a Michael Robotham fan and will read anything he writes.

This is a good book of essays. I liked it a lot. It really was good to read on the Kindle as I could carry it with me and read an essay when it suited me over a couple of years. I found the essays well planned and thought provoking and hopefully they will inspire folks to cherish and protect our environment. I also found that the essays, although written some time ago, were still vital today even as the high issues changed. I think it is a good book to have available and work one's way through.
New character! Plot gets good

Option for elementary students for a fractured fairy tale, many tales are incorporated into this book about a detective hot on the trail of Miss Tuffet. Lots of giggles to be had...the intended audience will love it although I was slightly lukewarm.
Always and forever . . . a novel that somehow manages to be both hugely inadequate and remarkably subtle. For me, it's compulsively readable, even though I wince a lot while I'm reading. Philip Marlowe: the most sensitive rat bastard in the history of rat bastards!

I really like the women in this book, they are rich characters that one can identify with. But i was a little disappointed in the end when they just sort of give in. I wanted them to fight back and realize that all was not lost just because the men in their lives were "taken" from them. I wanted them to realize that they were capable women on their own and together, women who were strong enough to stand up to Zenia.
