Loved. Her first two books just had me hooked. So. Frickin. Funny.
This is an amazing read. Part mushy love story, part comic tradegy, and a touch of science fiction. Yes, the hero is a CDP- a chrono displaced person. He travels back in time and befriends his future wife when she is six years old...the story progresses from there. I couldn't put the book down and longed to talk to someone afterward who had read it also....guess it's time to join a bookclub! Hope you read it- enjoy!

Hitler's Daughter (Bccb Blue Ribbon Fiction Books (Awards)) by Jackie French (2003) On rainy days, a group of Australian children pass the time waiting for their school bus by making up stories for each other. But the story Anna tells about Hitler’s daughter is different, and makes Mark question things he has taken for granted. This is the story of Mark beginning to question the way things are, and the story of Heidi, the possibly fictional daughter of Hitler, and the story of a girl who wanted to be self-defined, but still wanted her story told once, even if it meant her life becoming only that: a story. But while Mark’s father initially encourages him to discuss things they disagree about, Mark learns at the breakfast table that adults are not always comfortable questioning the ethics of the status quo.

I read this once when I was younger. Great story, a bit long winded, but worth reading.
Take High Fidelity angst but instead of obsessing over records you are instead a struggling writer in the East Village. This book is well written with an amazingly accurate sense of humour thinly mixed with intelligent peaks into literature, music and film... A 'love' story of a man who can only find love in the personals.
This book was a decent read. This book is very deep and can involve a lot of discussion on the subjects brought up (socialism, individuality, political structure, Machiavellian politics, etc.), but this is definitely a book you must read twice to understand. There were times I was lost due to the names of different characters and how the structure alternates between his past and present every other chapter. But, I must admit, the ending of the book does tie everything together and gives the reader the reason behind his struggles.

Gets kind of raunchy and changed totally midway through--became a different book almost--but I loved it.
