I love Cousteau, and this book positively rocks. It's filled with the story of how Cousteau got and outfitted his lovely ship the Calypso, all the adventures he and his crew had with the ship, and the real prize is an extensive pull-out section with detailed cross section plans and elevations of the ship. Clearly Wes Anderson read this book before designing the Life Aquatic set!

Liebersohn reviews five sociologists (Törries, Weber, Troeltsch, Simmel, Lukacs) centered around one theme: their postreligious impulse for ecclessial community.

I TRIED to finish this book but I just couldn't. It just drags and drags and I couldn't continue with it. As a true romantic I love the movies made based on Sparks books but i find his writing drags too much for me to get through his books.
Ray Romano has a knack of pointing out the things that all married couples and people who have children share, and he makes them all seem funny, after the fact. This was a very funny book.

this belongs to my favorites because it USED to be my favorite book. And then I realized all the pointlessness of it all. either way I used to love this book hence, the shelf.
My only critique of this book is that it needs a more transparent title. The substance is SO great but I think its probably been overlooked because people don't know what its about. Pearson uses first hand accounts to explore the work women in the Church have done to advance women's rights. It is SO inspiring to learn how involved the 19th century women were in first wave feminism. I have so many passages marked. Another must read for Mormon women from Carol Lynn!
Has some good info for staying organized, and prioritized in all aspects of your life.
Hellblazer is my kind of dark. I laughed at his side comments (which means it's a good one). Constantine gets his head straight (well his straight) a kind of turning a new leaf or old. This book has murderers, ghosts, body changing, a look into his past at a psych ward and a creepy cult. The every kind of situation Mr. Constantine gets involved with.

Really great read.
I am the type seemingly predestined for Plath worship. Oh, it's easy: white, female, feminist, literary, dark-sided. And I've been disavowing my girl Sylvia for a while now, leery of guilt by association. Scandals, hype and armies of ersatz Plaths have watered down public opinion, which is what it is, but life and legend are not the sum of literature. Ariel is baptism by fire. When I read this at thirteen or fourteen it blew up a new space in my mind to make a place where poetry could feel like this. The feel is not pleasant.
