I have mixed feelings about this story. One the one hand I loved that the sympathetic hero was the Earl and the annoying antagonist was the Lady. I disliked that the Lady was able to jerk the Earl around and toy with his feelings "to improve him." Kesseley has been in love with his neighbor Henreitta for years. Sh, however, does not return his feelings, and instead uses his emotions and his friendship for her own gains. Henreitta gets Kesseley to take her to London to find him a wife (a ruse to use Kesseley to help her win back her supposed beau), and as the Season progresses she does her utmost to change who he is, until he finally realizes what a twit Henreitta is and tells her to stuff it. Henreitta does an about face and realizes that Keseley is her One True Love and now has to fix her mess. The rough wake up forces Henreitta to grow up a little (much needed IMO) and becomes a slightly more likeable character.

Apparently, on August 21, 2011, I experienced my own time traveling/memory lapse because it would seem I read this book and had no recollection of it by 2014. Walking through the library, I came across this book and remembered that I had always wanted to read it after watching the short lived ABC tv show named after the book. I started reading it, became instantly engaged, came here to post, and low and behold discovered that this book, in which I recognized nothing, was something I had already read. I then read my review and was surprised to see that I left a less than stellar rating and review. I'd like to amend this now. After all, since the "end" is not set in stone, and destinies can indeed be changed, I have the ability to fix a past wrong. So 4 stars it is for this intellectually interesting and exciting read! August 21, 2011 Review I enjoyed the ABC dramatization and decided to read the book and, to me, it fell short. I wasn't invested in the characters, at times the science was too much and at times not enough, and I would have loved more discussion on the implications of such an event...I just wanted more and the book was missing that "thing" that would have kept me engaged.

This book is basically an academic dissertation on two of Radiohead's more beguiling albums. As an academic exercise without any real narrative arc, it is not the kind of book you read excitedly start-to-finish: about 2/3rds of the way through it, I decided I had gotten the gist and skipped to the last chapter. That said, fans of these albums will gain many interesting insights--as this is a far deeper read on the band's intent and sonic footprint than any commercial music reviewer would submit these (or any) albums to. The simple fact that 250 pages can plausibly be devoted to these two albums is a compelling case for their work as art that deserves as much (or more?) musicological analysis as the classical greats. Some of the analysis is surely right on track. Some of it is pretty far-fetched, and the writer's biases about the world are evident...and I could not help thinking as I read through, 'What would Thom think of all this?' At the end, I still realized I had no idea.

I love all the "My First Little House Books". I love the illustrations and the wordings come right out of the Little House books. All children should read about Laura's family's life and understand the way things used to be. My kids were amazed when I told them Laura's house was probably as big as our living room.

Great read. Somehow Arcady, the reluctant hero, succeeds and gets the job done without getting killed

short, quick read full of great nuggets!
I really like Lucy. I've always thought teenage girls had a sort of resemblence to little babies. They're so confused! And cry over the smallest of things- though that isn't really what Lucy does! In these books- I don't feel like the girls are as dumb as in other books. I like that. They aren't totally stupid. Well- that depends on which one of themyou're talking about ;D
