A comprehensive guide without all the usual fluff. The style of writing is professional and easy to follow - I especially enjoyed the technical section...and that's saying something since I usually have no idea what they are talking about. But the author struck it at just the right level for non-IT managers and executives. I also liked the layout of the book, making it easy for me to use as a reference guide long term. My thanks to Gail for making this comprehensive subject an interesting read. I now have a much better understanding of the value of BI, how it can be used more effectively, and feel much more confident in pursuing business intelligence in our company.

Ugh. This book was entirely too melodramatic and didn't paint an accurate, flattering, or human picture of teenagers at all. Perhaps if you like Twilight, you can handle the constant crying, fists beating against fences, and stomach pains the character is page-by-page experiences.

This book is great for sequencing. Have the kids name the order that the animals were seen. Have them go on an imaginary journey through their own neighborhood and write what they see.

I just finished this one too, The guy does a great deal of his homework, Approaches the works of C.S. Lewis, and Tolkein with an throuough eye to meaning and has a wonderful way of starting the book. The reviews of Lewis and Tolkein are favorable and I really enjoyed how he handled that portion of the book, as I am a huge tolkein fan. It was really hard to wait until he got to the Harry Potter portion, because as a fan of Fantasy fiction, I was hoping for the same treatment. I was rather disabused of my notion that he would have an even-handed approach to all three series. Abanes approaches the Harry Potter series as one who has an axe to grind. He raises some good points, but I was rather disheartened to see the latter half of the book devoted mainly to hitting the reader over the head with the seemingly impending moral evil the Harry Potter books represent. He does not handle the series with the same yardstick per-se that he handles Lewis and Tolkein, which makes me wonder about how he handles the rest of his works and how reliable he is.

** spoiler alert ** The ending didn't seem at all like an ending... basically he dropped that weird Seaweed of Eternal Youth, and decided that even though he'd spent months trying to find something like that it wasn't worth the time it would take to back to get more seaweed. And then, for no apparent reason, he described the city of Uruk to Ur-Shanabi the boatman. So many things weren't wrapped up at the end! What about his guilt with the death of Enkidu (who, by the way, definitely should have survived instead of Gilgamesh)? What about his quest for immortality? What about the weird tavern lady who let him stay in her inn? Why did this lady get any business in the first place if it was located on the other side of some tunnel through which no one could ever get across except for Gilgamesh? And, really... I don't understand how being able to stay up all night for a week shows that you're ready for immortality. At that point, Gilgamesh was still mortal, so it didn't prove anything if he still had mortal needs! It seems like when the person was telling the story, they finally realized that it was getting really late and the kids were asleep and he had an early morning hunt with the guys the next morning so he just finished it up without a bang. Anyway, all I've talked about is the ending, and obviously there's more to Gilgamesh than the ending... the rest of the story had a good storyline but was written so long ago that it just couldn't really grab my interest that much.... A GOOD PART: "Until the worm fell out of his nose."
