General impression: Lots of loose ends that were never tied up and one of the sappiest endings I've ever read in my life! I'm giggling and shaking my head just thinking about it because it was so sickly sweet and very very teenager stupid. *snort* Are you serious Ms. Armstrong? Okay, really, it wasn't a bad little series: quick to read, simple to follow, interesting if somewhat predictable storyline, a cast of easy to remember characters, and just enough darkness to make it worth reading. I am somewhat disappointed in Chloe, the main character, just because she started out with a lot of potential and ended up sort of flat. In her head she was strong but in reality she depended far too much on other people to save her, including demons and dead people. I think the series would have been far more intense if written from Tory's perspective. She was a much more interesting and dynamic character. My biggest issue with this series was the author introduced a lot of elements into the story that seemed like a big deal at the time, then were never addressed let alone resolved. For example, the demons. That demi-demon was fascinating and although it seemed to be poised to play a really important role, it's page time was cut short by "the master". You can't just introduce something so tantalizing at the END of the story then not explore it at all! Chloe's story is done! You can't do that to us! And there were other loose ends left flapping in the wind when all was said and done that seemed like important pieces to the puzzle. What the heck? Now, I've heard there will be another book/series from the same universe at some point, but it won't be about Chloe and there are a lot of questions still hanging out in my mind about her and her power particularly. Oh well. Other impressions: It really sucks to be Simon, Aunt Lauren was just as weak as Chloe, I want to know more about the demons, and Derek and Chloe's relationship is going to tank somewhere along the line and I'm going to laugh my head off when it happens (if the author ever picks up this universe again). P.S. The audio was pretty darn good. The narrator really captured Chloe's voice and Tory's attitude well. I would highly recommend listening to it if you decide to pick this series up. Other than that, fairly clean, I don't remember anything cringe-worthy by way of profanity, there was no sex or drugs, or anything else that would make me put the book down by way of dark writing.

A simplified discussion of some of the basics of Christian ethics. Nothing particularly deep here, but it was easy to read. I think I finally know the difference between deontological and teleological.

I gave up about half way through. At first I thought it was great, but then I found it offered nothing new. I didn't find a single tip I could put into practice.

beyond the discovery that i find "Candelaria" to be an exquisitely beautiful name, this book did absolutely nothing for me. nothing. which is not to say it was bad, it simply failed to touch off any sort of empathetic reaction in me whatsoever. a shame, really.
Great erotica...because it also is a great story with characters that you care about.

I "won" this book and am glad because I did enjoy reading it although I found it to be disjointed. Would get all engrossed in a particular phase of her life and then, all of a sudden, it would jump somewhere else! Often would turn back the page to see if I had missed something in the telling. Despite this I still recommend Paul Coomer's book.
Who can resist a book with a tag line that asks the question "Who would think of boobytrapping a frisbee?"
A fantastic book and one that I didn't want to put down.
