Just Wow! I think this may be my favorite graphic novel that I have ever read. I don't want to give too much of the ending away, but it is more about the relationship between Jaka and Rick than the Aardvark. You can understand the suffering of both characters equally, and while on the outside, you can see signs of the author's prejudice to women and their treatment of men, you can still sympathize with Jaka. The story is composed of both a narrative (which has questionable reliability) relating to Jaka's childhood, and a graphic novel composed with what is going on with the characters currently. Readers should take note of all that is going on because tt all comes together wonderfully, like a foul, swift kick to the gonads. Okay, maybe wonderfully wasn't the right word. Artfully?

This semester, I read the book Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. I really liked that the book has many description and visuals and it teaches you the real meaning of life. It also shows the reader that he/she doesn’t have to shop for pleasure when you are feeling down, that there are other ways of achieving your goals in life. At first, I was not really interested in the book, but it starts getting better afterwards. Some parts I really enjoyed from the book were when Rebecca Bloomwood wanted to buy her Denny and George scarf and she was at a press conference and Luke Brandon loaned her the 20 quid. I also liked the ending, when she realizes that she had to grow up and pay her debts and that she could not spend money in things she did not need. I really liked this part because it made me change my perspective that there are things that are more important in life than just materialism. It also made me realize that by settling down, and not hiding away from the truth or from other problems, you can help to solve situations easily. Some of the advice that Rebecca gave during the Morning Coffee show is right. If you save little by little, you will have a lot at the end and that you have to confront the situation so that you can fix it faster. The thing that impacts me the most about this book is that some people are actually shopaholics and they are in great debts because of it. I enjoy shopping a lot, but I think that people should understand that there is a limit. I really recommend this book to people of all ages, but I don’t really think that a boy will enjoy it as much as a girl. Now that the movie is out, I could compare the book with the movie and they have absolutely nothing in common. They are different, but both of them are good. If you enjoy the movie, you will also enjoy the book, you can just look at it as another story of Becky Bloomwood.

I loved this book because I've always been terrible with historic details and it really made it easier for me to understand and remember the whole Henry VIII story and how he and the Boleyns fit into the British royal line. Having said that I know that some of my friends thought it was a little too graphic in places. I didn't find that it bothered me, but I was expecting it to get just downright raunchy and so the places that were a little racy didn't really phase me.

When I started it I didn't want to like it. However, you can't help but falling in love with it. The intimacy between to Bella and Edward is something we all dream of in out lives. I loved it and hope everyone else does too.

I loved this book! I went pretty much straight into reading the next book (which I'm currently reading) because it was so exciting I had to keep going. I have heard from other people that the first book is the best and the series kinda fizzles after that, but I felt that the books got better as the series progresses. The plot just thickens (that seems like such a cliche thing to say, but I don't know how else to put it) and more and more exciting stuff happens. My favorite character from any book ever is introduced in this book (won't say who it is, but will probably mention this character in my review for Mockingjay behind a spoiler alert.) Characters in general were probably one of the high point of this book, as more characters who I really got attached to were introduced or further developed in this book. What I predicted this book would be about was definitely not what it was about, which was also exciting. I never like to know what books are about before I read them, but if you are one of those people who cheat and try to figure out what books are about, I would advise you not to do that with this series, as trying to guess where the storyline would even go and seeing it go somewhere totally different was a really exciting part of reading it.

On the plus side, this book can be read quickly, the little fictional vignettes about each event are somewhat entertaining, and the book touches on some good points. That said, as a work of history, this book has a whole lot of flaws. The authors are looking at seven different events, each separated by hundreds of years. There really is very little reason for these to be presented as one narrative, other than the vague, suspect notion that all of history itself can be viewed together. The authors draw from way too few sources to address these events. Each chapter switches from fictional presentations of the event, to historical describing the event to a discussion of why the event was important. While this sounds fine and could work, in this case, it often just breaks off the flow of each discussion. Further, each chapter is just way too short to really give a full picture of each event and the different nuances of its significance. This book clearly has a pro-European-American and Christian bias. To the authors' credit, this is stated. What makes this bias problematic is that they very clearly consider that if history had turned out differently in the case of the events presented, the modern world would certainly be worse off, especially in regards to freedom, which is a big assumption that can really not be supported. What struck me as the most glaring example of the questionable merit of the history telling here came in the chapter on the discovery of the New World. There is absolutely no mention made of native populations in the "New World". While at times throughout the book, the authors' do mention that there were missteps on the Euro-Christian grand path to freedom, I found it baffling that they made no attempt to even acknowledge the impact of the European arrival in the New World on people already living there. In the end, I suppose the authors' might say that their intention was just to present such a brief skimming of the topic to make their audience explore these topics further, but for me, they failed to make this point or provide readers with suggestions on how to do so. There were some potentially good points here, namely that freedom is rare and should be appreciated and defended, but the book and the history in it were just not good.

I am now a devoted fan of Jonathan Maberry. I didn't want this book to end. I've watched a few zombie movies in my day but never bothered reading any zombie books until I discovered this author. Someone is going to snatch up this book to turn into a movie...for sure. Joe Ledger is one character that I will look for again. Character development, dialogue, action scenes....all great.
My daughter suggested this classic science fiction treat. It's about a man made miserable by his dreams, because when he dreams he changes the world. The psychiatrist he goes to for help decides to use the man's ability to remake the world. The results are unpredictable and increasingly destructive. The story is an excellent meditation on finding acceptance. Fascinating read.

A great introduction to genre for the super young.
My sister gave this book to me when I was 18 years old, and it changed my life. A perfect book for a young woman discovering herself - empowering and inspiring. I read it three more times and loved it each time, but it never quite reached me in the same way as it did when I was 18.
