Could not get past the first 20 pages of the book, which had a really really drawn out... bah its not even worth describing. Also, its fine if your main character does not like cursing, and oh, keep pointing it out, ok, but the cutesy made up words to replace curse words, ugh, thats when I stopped reading.
This book was disappointing. I didn't find it to be original or engaging. I was hoping to be surprised, but it was so typical. No offense to the author, but I wasted my time. I could anticipate what was going to happen, but not with intrique or that gut-wrentching emotion, excitment, or passion that I've had with some books. It was limp.
Orson Scott Card has done it again! If you liked Ender, you will love this.

Genre- Picture Book Reading Level- K-4 Topic and Theme- Pacificism, individuality, adhering to principles and being true to oneself Curricula Use- Read aloud Literary elements: Setting integral to theme, illustrations extend text and contribute to plot development, personification Social- Tolerance and persistence of non-violence Summary- Even though he is the biggest and strongest of the bulls, Ferdinand refuses to fight, despite pressure to do so because of his size and strength. This is one of my absolute favorite books from my childhood.
I won this book from goodreads. It was a very enjoyable and compelling read, although a bit slow at the beginning. I found the politics difficult to follow at times. It was also sometimes confusing as there are so many characters and they are referred to in different ways, by first name or title. However, the story drew me in and then I didn't want to put it down, hence the four stars. **spoiler alert** I was a bit disappointed with the ending. I had hoped Violante would finally get her own life to live. I was annoyed with her for not grasping a chance at happiness when she could.

About a Korean-American man and his isolation from his wife, and how it relates to his relationships with his father, his job (espionage), the society he lives in. Amazingly written, believable, suspenseful - it gives voice to the undefinable emotions of being Asian-American, or any outsider.
