A well written and researched biography of one of America's most tragically flawed heroes. Traces the Mick's journey from the Oklahoma mine fields to his much belated battle for sobriety. Spends as much time marveling at his accomplishments, as it does recounting his many cringeworthy drunken escapades and loose definition of "marriage." All in all, the author does a great job of examining what drew a generation to love the Mick as an icon, warts and all. 7 out of 10 on the plane read scale.

I hate giving books a low rating. I do appreciate the effort of putting your work out there but sometimes, a book comes along that is just so bad that I couldn’t even finish it. Unfortunately, this is one of them. It’s a mere 59 pages on Adobe Digital Editions but I wanted to give up right around page 15. The premise of the story is pretty interesting. An average nice guy has been living the American dream of a good job and a family until his wife filed for divorce four years ago. Then he got laid off at his job of 32 years. Being 52 years old, he wasn’t eligible for retirement yet… basically, everything falls apart around him. Then he snaps. Based on the cover art, he goes all Dexter on the people around him. Great, I love Dexter. This should be good. Read the rest on Reading Good Books .

I thought this book was very good. I like the romance story, how it's like Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lover's, forbidden love ect. I also love how Stephenie Meyer didn't do the "traditional vampire" how she has made an almost good vampire, sparkly aswell definetley not the normal vampire. It also has some action and drama, which is good it's not just all fluff. I loved it, I couldn't put it down. I recommend it, to whoever hasn't already read it.

I loved Gilbert's openness and initial defiance against the social norms surrounding her, but lost her somewhere in the middle of the book. The way she articulates her struggles in the introduction is interesting and honest. She still had me at "eat" as she made me crave pizza and the Italian language, but somewhere in the "pray" section it became kind of didactic. It was still entertaining in spots and it served as lovely poolside-reading. I don't think I'd miss it if I hadn't read it, but I'm not regretting that I did.

Very helpful, though sometimes difficult to read for me - an American not used to British writing cadence. He presents concepts well, and I appreciated that he stressed the goal of applying economic value to natural resources, applying them to sustainablity indices. I probably have to review the book again in order to fully get my mind around the concepts; however, a first read-through was extremely helpful.
