“It’s true; life really is generous to those who pursue their Personal Legend, the boy thought” (p 175). The boy is Santiago, a poor shepherd who has the courage to follow his dreams and find his personal fortune. Throughout his travels he discovers that treasure can take many forms and many times the richest treasure is found not in the form of gold and jewels but in the journey and the people and places one encounters along the way. The book is rich in symbolism and dream visions. The use of dreams to foretell the future, give warnings, etc. will add a mystical touch to my forthcoming narratives.

Fun and inspiring, this book made me look at my family with different eyes. While contradicting in a few places, the heroine of the book relishes her role as wife and mother, she finds joy in the daily-ness of her life and in her faith in God. My kids are growing and will soon leave, like Mama's children, but that's not the end..."Soon the house would echo again with children's laughter. A new generation would be growing up to replace the old. God's glorious plan of creation - an endless cycle of lives coming and going - timeless, eternal." Recommended!

This book is nothing like any other book I've ever read by Lawrence Watt-Evans, and with good reason, since he didn't write it on his own. In fact, the whole idea behind this book came from Carl Parlagreco, the co-author. Its about a quite ordinary man named Casper Beech, a real nobody with no real future. Then one day, something happens... This is a science fiction novel, but set in a future not far from our time. We are somewhere in the States, Philadelphia, I think, in a time when its possible to imprint humans with certain skills electronically. That way, people can learn new skills rather fast. This seems like a good idea, but with machines, you never know whats going to happen... The government have developed a group of secret imprinting files tat gives people special talents. These are not necessarily good talents, but perhaps they are... I won't spoil any of the fun for you, just to say that this is a small book with a large story, one that you wont regret reading.

This book. Initially, I was a little skeptical of this book. China is a hot topic lately and it seemed this book was published to make money off that sensationalism. But, in the beginning, I was surprised, it offered me an accurate introductory explanation to a lot of what I encountered in China. However, the goodness stopped there. Fishman writes from a US perspective and accuses China of havingcreating an unfair global economic advantage (which is absurd). Ultimately, I think I just chose the wrong book. The book accomplishes analyzing the rise of china as an economic threat to the west (whether or not it is, is up for debate), but it offers little explanation of what is going on within china. The author ignores the Chinese people and dissects the country from the point of view of an outsider whose way of living might one day be in jeopardy.
I enjoyed Viola Canales' book, The Tequila Worm. The story is about Sophia who grew up in McAllen, Texas. She has a close family. I learned lots about the Mexican-American culture reading this book. Sophia is given the opportunity to go to a private boarding school here in Austin, which must be St. Stephens. The opportunity is great for her and she learns to deal with living a part from her family. Sophia learns to accept death and understands the role of death in the Mexican- American culture
a really interesting book. you learn many new things and aspects of the wizarding world. also has a tragic ending

A quick and engaging read; I'm a motorsport fan, so I was drawn in by references to the greats, like Senna, but the story—told through the eyes of a dog—goads you to keep reading. Highly recommended!
