Very creative telling of Cain & Abel and Adam & Eve stories in reverse chronological order. Rather a downer, but it is the fall of man after all.

Contains the original screenplay (the actual printed pages, complete with typos), and Soderbergh's production diary. Awesome.

I loved this book. I thought it was really smart and well-written. Very easy to digest. Unfortunately I loaned it out to someone who didn't appreciate it and made me feel like shit for enjoying, then never returned it. D:

Finally read the first in this series! After reading about five, the formula is starting to be too...predictable...for me, but that's to be expected. Will take a break but these books will always be good for popcorn reading.

Our first "historian," Herodotus simply collected a bunch of stories from the ancient world. It would take Thucydides to establish the objective, fact-finding professionalism of the modern historian, but Herodotus is much more fun to read. This is ultimately the source for much of the material in the movie "300." I still haven't gotten all the way through this, but it's great to pick up and browse through from time to time.

This was an excellent story of vision and endurance. It gives a closer look at what early settlers of this country faced. Also, the love triangle added some interesting drama.

Brilliant storytelling, with individual chapters that could stand alone as short stories, but that linked together create a humane and heart-wrenching portrait of life's compromises and acceptance of imperfections. It's like Raymond Carver stories told by Robert Altman ("Shortcuts" among the staff of a Rome-based newspaper). The specificity of the subject ironically belies the universality of the emotional dilemmas faced by the characters.

This short little story is difficult to interpret. Some say it's Melville expressing his depression other's believe its a "Eff you social norms" context. With so many different avenues, Melville proves to be a genius. So, there. Melville you're a genius. Don't cry because Moby Dick was hated by the people of your time. You're America's prized author now, so be happy. Anyways, it's a long and tedious read and by the end you'll be thinking, "I just wasted an hour reading this and I still don't understand what the hell Bartleby is." But don't worry, no one does at first.
this book is an easy understandable explanation of asperger's syndrome and gives some practical advice for dealing with some of the behaviors associated with it.
