Robeson was the Barack Obama of the 20th century, straight-up trailblazing!

Some of the most well-written exerpts of any piece of literature I've ever read.
Better than The Prince. I read this for either a history or literature course, or maybe both.

kinda disappointing, i kept waiting for the pratfall or revelatory moment but it never did come, never tempering the youthful arrogance of the book's protagonist. also not nearly as funny as the dust jacket would have me believe, some chuckles to be had towards the end but throwing eggs at someone will do that to me any time of the day.
I love this book. It is an intriguing story well-told even if Betty Smith insists on repeating descriptions of characters. The characters themselves are rich and multidimensional. Often times giving you the feeling that you like and dislike them at the same time. It's the kind of book you would read on a rainy day when there is nothing else you have to do.
I love his Non fiction, hate his mysteries, This is the second one I tried- actually better than the first one- which is scary! Good thing is it only takes a couple hours to read so does not waste too much time. I will stick to his non fiction since they are laugh out loud wonderful.
not quite what i was expecting but a quick and entertaining read

Read right after P&P. It's silly with lots of stupid jokes, and a total misunderstanding of the word "presently", but well done. Gail said that she thought Austen would enjoy the satire, and I agree.
