A great reference for Texas gardening. The authors break down the state, region by region, and give loads of advice on what plants will thrive in your particular climate. Their focus is on choosing well adapted native plants that will require a minimum of watering, pesticides, fertilizers and upkeep. This is great for the environment, but also great for you if you're like me and want to put a plant in the ground and forget about it.

Well it's a nice concept, written in a cute fable style. The novel thinks for you and many dislike it because it is so well acclaimed and it may be hard to see why at time with such a simply written novel. Yet if you go into reading this book with no intentions and allow the story to consume you it is very enjoyable. Although it is saying nothing profound at times we need to be reminded of these simple truths :)
Picked this up for $2 today at Borders. I like that it says it's "A Perfect antidote for Melancholy"
BIGGEST CLIFF HANGER EVER! But it was an amazing book. I just wish I didn't have to wait another 12 months for the last one in the series...
Wondeful. I like the Holly in Capote's story so much better than Audrey Hepburn's character in the movie. Capote's Holly is raw and real. Though, my favorite story in this collection is A Christmas Memory - you really get to see the life Harper Lee's Dill lived and I personally just love him even more because of it.

Not sure what to say about this one. It has the feel of an older work somehow, but is riveting. The fact that it kind of explaines Kabul, Afghanistan to you is an added bonus.

This book is an example of one that was built up too much by friends, so that I felt disappointed in it. I wanted more. And the ending was soo frustrating. I turned the last page and just said "WHAT? You've GOT to be kidding me." (And maybe that's a downfall with reading it on an i-pad. I really didn't know that was going to be the end. At least with a hard copy I would have realized it sooner.) With that said, I'm looking forward to discussing it because I do have lots of questions and comments. For starters, Marina's naivete about her relationship with Mr. Fox. Drove me crazy! I do like Ann Patchett's writing and Bel Canto is still one of my favorites, I just felt that I could have skipped large portions of the book and not missed much.
