Lately I have been interested in investing, and after listening to Rich Dad Poor Dad on audio I decided to go with this book. So far this book has caught my attention and I want to read more. :)
A good read from Patterson, at last! (maybe because he's written this one alone, or himself, for a change!) We have the Alex Cross we already know back, the story is fast paced and with lots of gory details.

I love all of Anne Tyler's work. So, is the grass always greener? And, what about that road not taken?

This was a very well-written book -- one of those sparse but surprisingly descriptive prose numbers. But I had difficulty relating to the figure of the aging white male quasi-estranged from his family and mired in memories of a bittersweet childhood summer at the sea. I mean, is this supposed to be some kind of eternal figure? Because there is really nothing for me there. The book did win the Booker Prize, which means the aging white males judging the Booker probably felt a lot more in common with the protagonist and with the themes than I did.

I really enjoyed reading this book and learning more about the heart of this man who has written so many of the songs that I love listening to so much. It helped explain for me the reason why I just have not become tired of them; he really wants to please and worship Jesus Christ through them. My only fault in this book is that sometimes I found the recollections a little disjointed, but he was just trying to get so many thoughts down on paper. I look forward to hearing where God will be using Martin Smith next since he has an obvious desire to listen to God and to obey and please Him first.

I didn't love this book. It wasn't terrible, but I felt like I never really got into the story. The girls suicides didn't evoke much emotion from me because I never felt like the author allowed the reader to get to know them...of course, maybe that was the point.
Man-booker prize winner.
By the time I got to the final book I was of course hooked to the drama of the family, and felt like I enjoyed the saga of the Hastings family and all their connections. It definitely was exciting to read about battles so close to home and near the area in which I live. I have a better understanding of the Civil War, (though I'm not done craving more)! I won't say that I was satisfied by how the series ended because how can any war book end on a completely happy note. There were tragedies left unsolved and families torn apart, lives altered forever. There was a sense of loss and a sense of difficulty to rebuild, a desire to start over and yet still go back to what can never be... so I give it good marks for leaving me feeling the same way the people of that time would have felt at the end of the war.

This book does an excellent job of introducing the reader to the world of prions and prion infections, Taking a historical approach and beginning with the emergence of kuru among the cannibalistic society of Papua/New Guinea, the author documents the struggle to find the infectious agent that causes this disease and other spongeform encephalopathies. It is a riveting journey that ultimately led to the understanding of how such diseases are transmitted, and to worldwide reform of livestock and pet feeding practices.
This is just fun. Wilkie Collins, Dorothy Sayers, and Agathie Christie are the only ones that operate on A.C. Doyle's level.

Stephen King'den gerçekten keyif aldığım bir başka ustaca hikaye. Evde başka kimse olmadığında bile okuma cesareti vardı!
