Especially liked the profile of the lawnkeeper at Wimbledon.

This is a really cute book. We listened to it while traveling and it was entertaining for all ages. (The only other book I've read by Lois Lowry is "The Giver." This book is very different and for a little younger audience.)

This reads like a novel and is a really quick read. Totally shocking though and makes me want to learn more. Highly recommend.

I loves me some serial killin's. But seriously, the books for Dexter blow the Showtime drama completely out of the water. Not only is Dexter a lot more pragmatic and a genuinely empty 'void' (though bless Showtime's heart, they do try.) - but sometimes there are some things that need to be in written word to be truly digested and understood. This is one of the many reasons why this book was addictive; I couldn't put it down to save my life, and I was miserable to see it end. My one complaint is that the ending seemed... well, not cliche, but definitely not what I would've expected OR wanted to have happened. (I wouldn't ruin it for the... one person who reads what I write.) To anyone who loves the dark, the bloody and the murder of morons who have it coming, I'd definitely suggest Jeff Lindsay's Dexter series. Cheers.
It was amazing!!!!

I usually really like Dennis Lehane's writing. Not in this case, maybe because I saw the big "twist" coming almost from the beginning of the book. Or because I got so bogged down(and bored) in what was supposed to be a suspenseful story that I had to put the book aside several times. That's no what usually happens when I read Lehane. I'll have to write this off as an isolated incident.
While this books makes clear the food choices it most strongly advocates, it remains throughout very reasoned, objective and realistic. Even though I’ve read several books of this nature already, this one is perhaps the best when it comes to valuable information coupled with an accessible style and approach. The authors study three standard avenues to purchasing food (as well as the diets commonly attached to those purchases) and then scrutinize the impact those food items/diets have on your health, the animals involved, and ultimately the environment: *Wal-Mart, Kroger, Safeway, etc. (Factory Farming, Agribusiness, standard-American diet, etc.) *Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, etc. (Free-range farming, Organics, Fair Trade, compassionate omnivore diet, etc.) *Local farmer’s market, family farms, etc. (Sustainable farming, vegetarian and vegan diets, etc.)
Polly, Eileen, and Mike are time traveling historians. The are sent back to 1940s England in order to observe World War II. However, they can not make it back. Has something happened from their time or in the past to prevent the return trip? Will they be able to survive the Germans? And how will they survive without money? Never before has it taken me 18 days to read a book that I would mark as liked. While I will say that I liked this book, the fact that it took me this long to read really lets me know that it was not that involving of a story. I found most of the characters to be very self-involved people that I really hope the world is not full of. Maybe the characters have to be detached, but they seem to not care about the other people they run into, even their own colleagues. I am sure I will read the second of this book, but not right away.
Required reading for High school. Interesting study of "man as creator." I understand that Shelley wrote this story during the "summer that never was" on vacation in Geneva.
