after i learned the story line of the book i sort of lost my interest. i felt that it was disgusting. i wouldnt recommend this book to anyone.it wasnt a bad book it was just wierd and against some peoples morals.

This was on my to-read list for the longest time, then a friend recommended it to me and I decided to finally mark it off the list. I read a Cat and Bones short story a while back and it was interesting to see how the story begins. Cat seems so young in the beginning of this book! But I thought it started out well and kept me interested the whole time. I have a feeling that this will be an action-packed series. I enjoyed that the romance between Cat and Bones doesn't consume the entire book- there is still plenty of storyline outside of their romance and so that kept it more interesting to me.

I loved this book. It's 900+ pages and I read it in less than a week, staying up late, reading it over breakfast, sneaking in pages at work. As a Yankee, it gave me a new perspective to the Civil War.

The Harry Potter series may seem childish and fantastical at first. But Rowling masterfully creates subtle parallels and symbols to create a deeper story than that of teenage magicians. The books do drag at times and the even numbered books (2,4,6) are more action driven than their odd psychologically driven counterparts. Overall the series is a great bedtime story for kids or a good analytical read if you're in to christian themed-fantasy like Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings books.

Lil' Anthony Bourdain is all growed up and isn't as _____ as he used to be. Angry? Hateful? Pessimistic? Nah, he's still got all that going for him, just in more of a mild manner. He might have lost a little of his spunk, but not in a bad way. It was a good book, not much going on in it and not as much shittalk in it as Kitchen Confidential, but still definitely worth the read.

As evinced by yesterday's review of the Notorious Byrd Bros. I can totally appreciate a 33 1/3 book that gives a song by song analysis, even of a record I was unfamiliar with. But the Byrd's guy wrote about the recording of the songs and their feeling. This guy wants to dissect the songs esp. lyrically which I have no interest in. The whole book is way too academic. Many "in this section I hope to show..." skipped to the second portion where he analysis Smith's instant ascension to fame... so far regurgitated music critical theory. I pulled the record off my shelf and am enjoying it, so that gets the book an extra star. Thought it was way too slick when it came out but it's ages well. Some really great songs and enjoy the lack of constant doubled vocals of earlier E. Smith works, tho I do prefer the earlier stripped down sound.
