Well-organized and stays focused on the main topic. Covers how Berliners reacted to the Allied bombing; what life was like in the bomb shelters; and how each successive bombing raid created nagging doubts about the propaganda of the Nazi regime. It also covers topics such as war rationing, the removal of children from the city to "safety" in the countryside, and how foreign workers and Jews were treated during the trials that Berlin experienced. Moorehouse draws from a wealth of primary source material and mixes it effectively with his narrative commentary. A good addition to the always vastly expanding World War Two reading collection.

I thought this book was good. I cried in some parts and laughed in others. I admire the author for what he did in the final days of his life. I can't imagine what pain he was going through knowing he only had a finite number of days with his wife and children and yet focused on the positive. On one hand he remained in the present moment to finish this book for his children while also preparing himself and his family for the future.

One of those detective books again!!!! This is a closer look not only at the corruption of the police on my lovely island, Puerto Rico, but, at police corruption all over the world. It's just upsetting to know the people who you thought were protecting you are actually doing other things. Think about it.........

I love this series about a police detective in New York City in 1906. In my mind I am transported to the early 1900s. Pintoff's descriptions are so real and I find the way people lived back then so very interesting. The mystery of who killed the three judges was captivating and descriptions of the anarchists who were organizing and cause mayhem because of working conditions at that time were very interesting too. I want more.

BORING. I kept reading trying to find some passion in the characters, some amazing plot twist, but I was terribly disappointed...

She won my heart at the end with her annotated book list - and there is no doubt that she is a talented researcher and author but the book never came into focus for me. I do actually think hospital administration can/could be interesting but the specific characters and chapters were never a sharp enough lens for me to really examine the unique hospital setting and pressures.

This is a great book for those who are interested in the strange things that can occur in the mind. I found this book and easy read, but I realized that someone who might have no previous base in neuroscience might find bits of the book confusing. He tends to use some scientific terms to describe the aliment of the patient, but all of these one can look up online if inclined. I would definitely recommend this for people to read.

this book is amazing, long but amazing
Amazing voice and character development. Annie John's emotional challenges through adolescence, reconciling her conflicting relationship with her mother, and pushing the confines of postcolonialism, race and gender boundaries renders a gorgeous and smart read. Kincaid's style and economy are masterful.
