great history of the irish 'gangster'--beginning at five points in lower manhattan and following the story through the 20th century-intimate knowledge of locations and characters. goodread:)

Nice, entertaining read. I liked the fact that the heroine stood up for herself. Hero tried his best not to fall in love with the heroine, but he was fighting an already lost battle. It was a little bit repetitive.

The beautiful cover art by Sarah Hoy drew me to The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place. Another bonus, I adore historical fiction. After reading the brief synopsis of the book, I knew that I had to read it, well, listen to it. Briefly, the story is about the common phrase, "You must have been raised by wolves!" Lord Ashton of Ashton Place found three children in his woods and decided to keep them. (Can you play finder's keepers with people?) Ashton and his newly wed wife employ fresh-faced Penelope Lumley to take the children in hand. The story follows Miss Lumley as she strives to train and education three rambunctious children. Reader Katherine Kellgren gives an outstanding performance that will be enjoyed by the whole family. Each voice is very distinguishable and full of life. The story unfolds so humorously and mysteriously that I cannot wait to read the second installment of Maryrose Wood's series. If you enjoy topics such as England, governesses, English Literature and a good laugh, you will definitely enjoy this book. Happy reading!

Somehow, I liked the second book more than I did the first. [spoiler ahead]I enjoyed reading about Oliver's feelings as well as Vincent's. And I found myself agreeing with each in turn, to the way they saw the world and how they had to act their part in society. There were several issues separating them: social status, social etiquette and expectancy, behavior and last but not least the courage to risk some things in order to gain what they wanted. Although I enjoyed seeing Vincent as the dominant type, their short role reversal was nicely played out, making Vincent a most charming man to submit to another's wishes. Just the same, Oliver showed a more resolute side of his character, both in bed and outside of it, finally taking charge of his life. One things that drew my attention was the hint of them trying new things or seriously considering reversing their roles but the author played it down to Oliver not liking that. It seemed rushed and not sure if the author meant that as incentive for a third book or just something to fill the pages with.[end spoiler] Perhaps I just more attuned to their feelings but I could feel their emotions, sadness, angst and despair at the prospect of losing each other. The author came up with a rather easy solution, nevertheless I was happy to have them back together. Wonder how the third novel will develop.

Just give us the damn half star already!!!!! Rating the book was kind of difficult, the real one would be 3.5 stars, I would've rounded it up to 4 stars but then decided it wouldn't be fair to other 4-star books that I liked more, then again it's not fair to this book either since it was way better than a lot of my 3-star books, but my hands are tied on this one, so 3 stars it is. All in all it wasn't a bad story. Far from a masterpiece, more of a lightish supernatural read. It started off pretty nice and I was seriously considering giving it a higher rating, but at some point, I have no idea why, I sort of lost interest. At first I thought it might be because of the pnr-ish note to it, but my UGH moment lasted only for a tiny bit since the hint of a love story was a minute one, although I'm suspecting there would be a development in that department further on, which would be a major disappointment for me. Nothing really against that, but it seems that all fantasy/supernatural/urban fantasy/etc. books inevitably turn into a PNRs and it just gets too much at one point. So not to continue with my rant here, good general idea, it might not have been the right moment for me, it might not have been the right book for me, but then again 3.5 stars is far from a bad rating after all and it's not like I'm throwing it to the you-are-disgrace-to-all-books pile.

Review to follow.
I thought this book was pretty good it just had a lot tenchni9cal witch made it very boring in some parts. I can’t believe they found Darrell. When they found him he was pretty clean and white around his mouth. I think that I could have more action in the beginning. And they do not have to go over ever little detail about how to hack this or then just tell what they doing and be done. But some parts need to be disrobed better. Over all I give this book a rating of about 7.5 because it was good but not great.
