My absolute favorite children's book. I loved the combination of history, morality, romance and the use of color and weather to illustrate emotions. (Think it was the first time I ever noted the environment reflecting storyline development.) Fabulous introduction to the New England witch trial legacy, giving children a much more rounded view of frontier life in harsh times.

Pretty sounding recipes and snippets of stories to go with them. Nice to read but I don't really seeing me trying much of the recipes. Still a dreamy read.

My favorite children's book of all time. Sweet, beautiful, mischievous and fun. It may not have the flash of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or the wonder of James and the Giant Peach, but it has always been Roald Dahl's best to me. It makes you want to be a better parent, it makes you want to be a better person. It makes you want to be a kid again. I have a hardcover copy, an older edition, maybe the first, with absolute BEAUTIFUL illustrations. I was sorry to see it wasn't listed here on goodreads.

I just reread Neal Stephenson's "The Diamond Age." When I forst read it, some years ago, I thought it was a fascinating book that explores the impact of technology on societies. I still think that, but it struck me as an even better book than I remembered, full of interesting and exciting ideas as well as an exploration of what a family is and how people as well as societies are stressed and adapt or not as their environments change.
