Brilliant book with a depth of emotional context that I rarely see in stories. Tackles the deep issues about humanity, and the difference between knowledge and sense. I really want to reread this one

Some great poems here. Dickey may have been the great American poet of the 70's. Check out "The Leap," & "Falling" 2 heavyweights!!!

One of my favorite reading habits is to tick off books on my to-read list during the summer. The Good Earth is one book that I remember reading in the warm summer sun... without a care in the world. It has this lasting quality that leaves an unforgettable impression.

This is Gadamer's Magnum Opus. It's not a light read, but deeply enriching if you put the time into it. I consider it the definitive book of the twentieth century on Hermeneutics. If you are interested in interpretation, translation theory, and philosophies of experience, this is a must read. My own understanding of the Islamic tradition is greatly informed by many of the points made in this fairly hefty tome.

We're currently going through this training at work, and I think that the book isn't very useful as a stand-alone tool, but when combined with the training classes it's super! The models put forth are extremely successful, I've even caught myself using them on my five-year-old and have gotten great results! Especially with the "Mineral Rights" model.

A solid read, and a fairly comprehensive examination of the topic of health are systems around the world. I can't fault the author for tackling a heavy subject set, but there were times when it was difficult to push through the saddening truth about our own health care system. I'd recommend the book to anyone interested in knowing more about the debate around universal health care in our country and in others.
Just started this and am enjoying the story so far -- can't quite figure out where the story is going and that is a good thing. Don't know exactly who the good guys and the bad guys are yet, but things are interesting. UPDATE: The story sort of slogged to a halt for me mid-way and although I am still trying to figure out where the story is headed, it is a little less riveting for me. I want to get back to the present day and out of 1940s. All done and it just sort of fizzled for me. It is poised for a sequel and leaves the ending hanging a bit too much for this kind of book. I thought the potential was good, but it just sort of fell flat for me as it found its way to the end...

weird idea... startlingly enjoyable and engaging novel... not too depressing!
I loved this book I literally cried at how unfair it was. Even though it was a genre I usually wouldn't be into I really adored this book and am avidly looking forward to the next book dying a little bit to know if things will work out for the two. I really felt in touch with both characters and how unfair thier predicament was. I wanted so muc for both of them to be able to have their love. The imagry in the book was stunning and felt like I was right their with the characters shadowing just behind them as they moved through the story. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Characters lack depth and it's pretty ridiculously un-PC, but the quality of the writing is excellent and it's hard to put down. Okay, it would probably be easier to put down if I wasn't white.
