Love love love love love. Actually, I don't think the word love is strong enough to describe my feelings for this book. I finished it in less than a day. I literally could not put it down. Stephanie is two for two. I can't wait until her next amazing book. Hope it comes out very soon.

Paula Spencer is so real, my strongest impression after this second reading of The Woman Who Walked Into Doors isn't that it's a brilliant book (though it is); it's that Paula is incredibly brave. I cannot imagine that she isn't real (though I know she isn't). That is where the genius of this book lies. Doyle doesn't just write a well-rounded character. He inhabits a real person. Part of what makes Paula so real is the way she interacts with her memories. She constantly reevaluates her memories, corrects herself, mocks herself for pretending things were good, even in her own head. Can the truth ever be remembered? Is it written on our bodies, or in our minds? That's what makes Paula so brave to me; she faces her fear of her own past.

It was fine, but I wish it had decided whether to be funny or serious. Kind of just wanted it to end after a while.

Boring. All telling, uninteresting characters, nothing happens.

I love all of Anne Tyler's work. So, is the grass always greener? And, what about that road not taken?
This was definitely an eye-opener, and is a great source of information. Not only do you see how differently people in other countries eat, but you also see how little some have. In addition, the author talks about customs and ways of life, so you get a mini portrait of life in another country. My only complaint is that I wish the author had indicated whether a family was typical or representative of their country (such as how many children they have,if extended family typically live together, are their jobs average or low-paying, etc.)

Really funny, with lots of laugh out loud bits and a quick easy read.
No sure that this stands out amongst other good crime writers...but she's definitely in the mix of GOOD ones. This was the first in the series and I look forward to reading more. The main character is a strong and independant career woman who's "soft spots" are her son, and the frustrations of the criminal justice system...hit home for me!
