A fascinating history lesson about what the Catholic church considered heresy in the 13th century .. oh and a nice murder mystery to boot! the only thing the film provided in the superior book was bringing to life the mysterious library (which I couldn't visualize for the life of me).

This is one of the best books that I have listened to in a long time. While the story itself is not one that I am usually interested in, both the author and narrator have such a way with words that I was captivated. While I am not sure that this novel really is for ages 12-18 as it is marketed, the symbolism in the book is nothing short of amazing. The story is so completely full of emotion, life, and wisdom it is hard to imagine an author of only thirty years was able to reach such depths.

Bradley is an excellent writer, and the Flavia de Luce series is always fun. Flavia is definitely growing up in this third book, which gives a more wistful tone to the writing, but the zaniness is here too.

This is the gripping tale of a troop of Boy Scouts out on a rugged hike and overnight in Hawaii. Dylan is the senior patrol leader and Louie is the tough new kid who has just joined the troop. There is history between them and tension that is put to the test when an earthquake and tsunami hit the island during the night. Fans of Peg Kehret's books( Escaping the Giant Wave and Earthquake Disaster) will love this--especially once they read the author's note and realize it is the story of Salisbury's cousin who lived it in 1975. He is true to the Boy Scout details and the description of the exotic location from the underground caverns to the harsh lava paths paint a vivid picture. An exciting read.
