There is no one like Amelia Bedial to get things totally confused and still come out fine!
One of her best books yet!
Parts read like a text book and the author didn't always stay on point (digressions, digressions, digressions), but it was an interesting look into the Amish culture.

This was a really quirky book. You know who I would have given it to last year, Wendy. A.Umb. from Block 5. It was witty, SARCASTIC, interesting. At times I really wondered, so what's real and what's not....? But I really laughed at some parts.

If you aren't a fan of dry humor this may not be the book for you, however I have to say this was a quick and easy read. You do get into the book and become interested in what will become of the main character.

This could actually be titled Redeeming Comics, or perhaps Proving The Intellectual Validity of Comics. It is the definitive critical analysis of the comic form, or at least the only of which many people are aware. (Certainly I don't know any others.) It's not hip, because it was written before comics became hip, and doesn't strive to be. Rather, it is well thought out and loving, which is better.
This was a book for a day. I was happy to read it. I don't think I'll recommend to everyone. Marilynne Robinson has a blurb on the cover and this book would be interesting to her. I found it nice in it's stream of consciousness quality. But, that's me. I don't insist I always know what's going on. Perhaps this is my problem in life.
I had a really hard time getting into this book but once I did, it really took off for me. I'm still not sure how crazy I am about the main character, but some of the minor characters were wonderful and the world/premise/idea was fantastic. I will probably read the other books in the series because I did enjoy it a great deal once I got into it, but generally if it takes me a while to get into a book, I abandon it before finishing it.

A 4.5 stars!!! First off - I ADORE Marie Force. This is the last of her books that I hadn't yet read. She is a must read for me. I think I cried more reading this book than any I can remember. Very emotional writing, wonderful characters, complex page turning story of relationships between friends, families and lovers. Gotta say I almost gave up on Ted in the last few chapters before he redeemed himself with Caroline. And it’s usually the female leads in a story I want to smack a little sense into. What made this book unique is that is wasn't just about Ted and Caroline, but just as focused on the friends Smitty, Chip and Parker and their relationships. Mare Force always writes the most lovable characters and this book was just an wonderful as her others. This story stayed with me far beyond the end. Kept thinking about it for hours. Would HIGHLY recommend this book.
