Told in the voice of an 11 year old, which is mighty frustrating. And while it was an interesting idea, I couldn't get into the book. Just too frustrating and not interesting Tried to read it again. Got tired after a while. Not worth it

I listed to this book on CD; great listen about 4 people who meet on the top of a roof on New Years eve, all about to kill themselves. Got a little tiring but was good in the end. Not sure I would have stuck with it if I were really reading it.

I bought the book because I'm a Catherine Anderson fan, but the value in these books is that they often introduce you to new writers - or, at least, authors you may not have read before. Ms. Anderson's contribution is set in the old west around the 1890's - so not too terribly old west. I give it three stars. It was not up to her normal caliber but few of her histories are (except Comanche Moon, of course). It was nevertheless a nice read. The offering by Loretta Chase, who is a new author for me, however, was wonderful - 4 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look for something else by her. The final offering by Samantha James I give two stars. I think the format was just too short for her. She needed more space to develop her characters and her theme and I ended the story feeling cheated in some way.

The Memory Palace was a nice read. I started reading it bit by bit and as I got deeper into their lives I couldn't put it down. I can't help but find similarities to The Glass Castle. Partly because it is the same genera with similar life changing events. However, if you like one I am sure you would like the other.

This is my friend's book, but that isn't why I stayed up until 4 am to finish it. Sometimes an author's raw emotions bleed onto the page to give us a story that is so much more than just a story. That is definitely the case here. The pain of grief is so real it made me cry. It's beautiful and sad and real and after I finished Andria's story I couldn't get her out of my head for days.
