I thought this book was pretty amazing. There are actually three stories going on. It focuses on Iris as an elderly woman dealing with what has become of her life, and it also goes into Iris' memories and shows readers what her life was like as a young woman. The third story is a novel within the novel; strangely, it includes a story of lovers' clandestine meetings, as well as some pretty crazy science fiction stories. I love how these stories all tie together. Great novel, in some ways very tragic.

This book is a collection of articles by Gordon Fee on various topics, most of which have some connection with his theology of the Holy Spirit. As any book composed of separate articles that were not originally intended to be together, it does lack the unifying power of a strong central theme. This aside, this book has provided a much needed scriptural basis for practical Christian living/church body life such as the use of prophecy and speaking in tongues, women in church/ministry, church structure and the ultimate mission of the church. Fee is one of today's best New Testament scholars and very much a friend to the charismatic church. This book has really helped me on both an intellectual level as well as on a 'heart' level in terms of learning how to build up the church in love and learning how to be part of the body of Christ. Ever since I started reading the book I've been letting my friends read certain chapters of it because it is so helpful for us today. Well done!

I believe that this book is better than the first. It was much more pure fantasy and less heavy handed allegory. I adore how Susan got a mythic goddess/ woman warrior moment with her bow and arrows. I'd love to reread this once I get the chance.

I wanted a good romance/supernatural story set in historical settings. I got the historical setting anyway. Lady Anne is a well-drawn character, but in my opinion, she's the only one. I wanted her to have more of a romance going with the Marquess, but there is way too much talk about the "mystery" of the murders and the werewolf, not enough romance and flirtation for my taste. Also, there were so many supporting characters and murders that I was hard-pressed to keep them all straight. Disappointing.
