Oh man! This book took longer to read than necessary. But for some reason I kept thinking it would get better. The book is told from the point of view of two sisters, mainly Maggie's pov. I wish that we heard Kate's voice more because she was the one who supposedly was able to hear the spirits. The book felt like it was trying to be three different things at once: the story of the rise of spiritualism, Maggie's love story with Elisha, and a story about sisters. In the end, it's as if it was all about Maggie and Elisha and the whole spirit rapping served as the reason why Elisha and Maggie met in the first place. The spirit rapping became almost an afterthought in the gran scheme of the book. Oh, and Elisha was a complete cad! So selfish and no backbone. He completely screwed over Maggie with his cowardice.

This book was so great! I usually have a hard reading churchy books because I get lost in the doctrine and it's easy to put down and not pick back up (I know, bad). This one was really great. I listened to it on CD, but I am going to go buy the thing to mark up because it had so many great things in it. The story is about a couple who are struggling in their marriage. They are both "good" and all that, but they just eat at each other and are just not in a healthy relationship. Through a series of dreams where his grandpa teaches him through scripture stories and images, he learns different ways to bring peace to his life and marriage. It brings out many aspects of the Atonement and Gospel that I hasn't really considered fully before. It was an eye opener on how I can bring peace to all aspects and relationships in my life. Loved it!

Although I lean conservative, I wasn't sure what to expect. After discussing with others, a friend of mine came away with the perfect response: "Even if you don't agree with his decisions, or his presidency, you should understand why and be able to respect the ability to make decisions." An interesting approach to a memoir, I was fascinated reading about some of the behind the scenes descriptions with some of the most definitive moments in time during my early adulthood.

Nancy "Nan" King, mild-mannered "oyster girl", works in her father's oyster bar in 19th century England. A chance trip to the theater changes her life when she meets and falls in love with male impersonator Kitty Butler. In sort of a lesbian Cinderella, Kitty makes Nan first her dresser, then her fellow drag king, and finally, her secret lover. However, Kitty marries and Nan takes to the harsh London streets, plying her trade as a "male" whore. Nan's London adventures take her from the backstreets to lesbian salons to the labor movement. Fucking amazing book. The miniseries is cute and fun, but the book rocked my world with its depth, attention to detail, and in-your-face narration by Nan herself.

The Truth About Forever is a story like no other, with its great plot about a girl going through tough times. Sarah Dessen fills this story with love, laughter, and teenagers living life. Some of the best parts about this story were the relatable characters and the moral to the story. This book was amazing cover to cover. In the book the The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, Macy Queen thinks she has a pretty lame summer ahead of her. After Macy’s father dies, her boyfriend, Jason, leaves her for academic camp, her mother is a workaholic so she is never home and Macy has a boring job at the library leaving her with almost nothing to do all summer. Macy suspects a summer filled with SAT practice, Her library job and emails with Jason. Macy is always having her mother and Jason living through her and Macy thinks life is perfect that way. Macy and Jason always try to make everything in life perfect. They both think everything in their lives is perfect or at least Macy thought that is what Jason saw to. Until Macy received an email from Jason at the beginning of the summer stating that they needed to take a break. Macy was upset and felt really bad for herself until she meets Delia, head of Wish Catering. Delia needed some help while catering a work party for Macy’s mother and Macy lends her helping hand to find she is a pretty good crab cake flipper. Delia offers her a job to help out Wish and Macy loves catering and the people she meet doing it (Wes and Kristy). Wes and Kristy have been through tough times too and help Macy find happiness just being herself and not having her mother and Jason living through her. She finds she is happier being herself and making her own desisons. Together Wes and Kristy help Macy realize that things are perfect when you are not trying to make them perfect. Sarah Dessen has very relatable characters in her book The Truth About Forever. Each one of her characters is relatable in their own way but Dessen makes you feel like they are the girl/boy that has lived across the street since 2nd grade. Macy is relatable because she is having troubles with her boyfriend and her family, which are very typical problems in a teen’s life. Many women and men have troubles with relationships that can be very hard and even if you personally don't have relationship troubles you probable no someone who does. Macy also has trouble with her family because her dad died. A death of a parent is a sad but common family problem. Even if your family doesn't have a death it could be a divorce, single parent or any other of they many family troubles. Many people can relate to Macy or even if it is not Macy who they relate to it could be Wes, Kristy or Delia who you relate to. Relating to Kristy would be to have been in a life changing car crash or any other major accident or sickness that would cause you to be in the hospital a lot. Wes or Delia also had deaths in their family when Wes’s mom/Delia’s Sister died it left Wes to live with Delia and Delia to have to watch Wes which could be relatable if you don't live with your parents or kind of like being adopted. All the characters were very true and not artifical, the message of this novel was also great. In the novel The Truth About Forever there is a very good message. The message is that sometimes for things to be perfect you have to let the pieces fall into place you cannot try to force things to happen. This message is confusing at first but when you start to think about it, it makes perfect sense. As soon as Macy stops trying to be perfect and takes a break from the “Jason way of life” she is happy as a clam and loving summer. It gives a good thought to your mind when you think about, if there is something in life you try so hard to do or be sometimes if you just let go and be yourself it will be fine. I would recommend The Truth About Forever to any teenage girl who wants a good book with a good message and relatable main characters. This book is hard to put down and you keep the pages moving like a fan to find out what will happen next. Hopefully you want to read this book. I hope this review helped you choose to read The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen a truly phenomenal book.

This was a remarkable book. The writing is lovely, the personal stories are poignant and moving. If you want to get a better understanding of some of the underlying issues surrounding our current immigration debate, do read this and learn.

Terrible. Choppy translation made it almost unbearable. (Or, alternatively, the original was also awful.)
