1) Plus: I am partial to ghost stories, so I was already attracted to it even before I began reading. And now that I have finished the book, I can say I was not dissappointed on that end. 2) Plus: The storyline/ plot was good. It was not just a rehashing of the same old stuff. 2) Plus: The action drew you in immediately, and the story moved along at a good clip. 3) Plus: This is Stephen King's son, and it is obvious he inherited a lot of his dad's style (good thing) 4) Plus or Minus: He apparently did not inherit his dad's level of complexity, though, at least not yet. This story pretty much follows the events through the protagonist's eyes, and does not have a profusion of different characters/scenarios. Depending on the level of complexity you want in a book at the moment, this could be a plus or minus.

Good times. Max Brooks has constructed a thoroughly engaging "speculative history," set as a series of interviews with engaging characters, encompassing the war against the undead. Continuing the popularity of his Zombie Survival Guide, Brooks does a pretty good job with the premise, writing without flair but with a good deal tongue-in-cheek humour, but also pathos, with not a little cultural criticism thrown in for good measure.

The bronx has a very interesting background. The book starts with the first immigrant group that came to the bronx and follow along with the subsequent transitions in demographics. She provides a history of how the bronx started from a high point all the way down to it's horrible condition in the 80s and then slowly back up to where it is now and where it continues to improve.
