There is an answer to the question that hasn't been asked. This book is a rip off. You will not find out why cats have no lord in this book that blatantly promises to be about that very subject. I want my penny back. In fact, I'm charging interest and I want TWO pennies back. Three pennies for pain and suffering. More appropriate titles: Every bad fantasy cliche in one book. Breeches crimson cords boots hair breeches robes breeches blah blah pointless clothing details breeches did I mention that they wear breeches? Buckskin breeches. Tight breeches. Tan breeches. This book is too big for its breeches! Wish fulfillment lame-o super powers book. Instill a lifelong hatred of fantasy in any kid who reads this. I cry false advertisement! Holy shit this is Emma Bull's husband. She's a better writer than him but they totally fell in love over a mutual love for Mary-Sue characters and wish fulfillment! Unless... Why were there all those missing pages? Like they had been ripped out? Duh duh duh! I almost found out why someone is moving heaven and hell to make sure the question isn't even asked. Why do cats have no lord?

It took me a bit to get into this one, but when I did, I couldn't wait to get to the end! Another fascinating mystery that brings the London of the 1860s to life (I felt like I could actually smell it the way Lee describes). I can't wait to read the next installment.

I connected with the book conservator as I have taken some classes on book binding (I know what a choir and signature are!) Also, I have been interested as of late in the connections between Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Some of the historical sections were long and I got a little uninterested, but overall an enjoyable book.

Romeo and Juliet. One if not THE most famous tragic love stories there has ever been. Stacey Jay takes what we think happened and turns it on its head. Juliet fights for the Ambassadors, in order to ensure that True Love and Soul Mates survive. Romeo fights for the Mercinaries in order to twist the notion of True Love, to the point that one will kill the other all in the name of Love. And now both are cast to earth in the bodies of Ariel and Dylan, right when Ariel tries to kill them both, not for love but out of vengence. And its here that the story starts to take off. Overall the story is really intresting and someone did mention that Juliet doesn't notice one big blooper with the two soul mates she thinks she is their to make sure that their love succeeds, but it didn't bug me, because Juliet is governed by numerous rules to live by. This is what she thinks should happen. And the overall arc is rather good. The only reason that I didn't give it higher is the fact that it the story seems to splutter in the middle and goes a bit flat. We are thrown a few red herrings on who this evil force is that doesn't want Julier or Romeo to succeed. (view spoiler) I do want to read the next part, but its not a must read

This book was very good in parts-I liked the Eat and Love sections but wasn't too interested in the Pray portion. I think whether you like it or not can depend on the area of the world she's in and whether you'd be interested in it!

And I thought junior high was rough....This woman went through the six circles of hell in her Lord of the Flies style school years. Throughout the book I wanted her to just give it up, though. She moved on, has had a great post-school life, and I wanted to see her forget about those tossers she had to endure for years and not give them anymore satisfaction. Instead, she was determined to go back to a class reunion and - finally- gain some sort of acceptance and, perhaps, apology, from her former tormentors. I can understand that fantasy at age 13. However, as an adult, isn't it just great to remember that the school bullies no longer matter? They are probably all paunchy mid lifers now...and no doubt duller than you are because they did not have to spend much time developing a personality and a sharp wit. However, like poking at a sore tooth with ones tongue, this book makes you want to read it to the end to find out if the author gets her satisfaction. I bought this for the teen collection when I was working as a librarian and it really resonated with the kids. This book was checked out often! I think young people need to hear stories of people who have survived and thrived the bullying years and moved on to happy adult lives. This is why I wished the emphasis was less on going back and getting closure with these creeps. To me, this gives the adult bully or former bully even more power. However, to each his/her own. And anyone who ever had to deal with bullying needs to cope with it in his/her own way.
