I was so excited to get this book in my hot little hands! I loved Moran’s previous book, Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran, in fact I gave it a five star review. So, did this book hold up to another 5 star rating? Not quite, in my humble opinion. Did I really like it? Yes! The writing was excellent as was the story. However, for me, there were a couple parts that dragged on just a little too much. I understand that the French Revolution cannot be rushed but I wish a couple of the scenes would have been cut. That said, that is my only issue with the book. The characters were well written and established. I especially loved the teacher/ student relationship between Marie and Princesse Élisabeth and the descriptions of how Marie created the wax images of people. Fascinating!

I found this book really interesting. Its told from the point of view of an 11 year old Irish boy living in a fairly unstalbe. family. He is very tall foor his age, very akward and kind of puts people off. He is also very loving, funny, and perceptive. The book is kind of like a curious incident of the dog in night in that its really a window into the mind of someone who is not like everybody else. Except, in the Curious incident, as the reader you know to take the protaganist view of the world wiht a grain of salt because we clearly know the boy is not "normal". In Carry Me Down, everyone comes accross as loving and normal sometimes, and pretty messed up and unsatlabe other times. Its hard ot say whehter the way things break down is because of the boy and his odditiies and obsessions or becaue this was one messge up family to begin with. Its kind of hopeful, and kind of bleak, and kind of distrubing. I liked the book a lot and its really gripping, but I give fiar warning its kind of unsettling too.

It's confusing, but an important book to read.

I really enjoyed this book. The outcome was unexpected it was a little sad a little happy and it was really sensitively written!

Dorothy L. Sayers calls Purgatory the "tenderest, subtlest, and most human" section" of the Divine Comedy. Her verse translation and many notes reveal her own passion for Dante Theologus.

That was another enjoyable installment in the Mercy Thompson series. The books are quick reads with likable characters and lots of action; it's a series I'll keep reading as long as she keeps writing them.

Book could not hold my attention and the jokes were not funny....
Amazing. Weird, but amazing. Definitely my favorite Murakami so far.

While the entire Murray family series is so much fun, I think this is my favorite. Biblical fiction.
