I only read b/c I heard Edward Norton was going to be in the movie. Then he wasn't. The movie, with John Cusack was much better than the book

I won this from Goodreads giveaways. Ok, weird? It was hard to believe her. She discusses her many psychotic breaks, and it was difficult to accept what she wrote about her life. Making her version of events even harder to accept is the fact that I read her son's book, Running with Scissors, first so I already had an image of her as a person with severe mental health issues. It would be interesting to see what someone thinks of this book who has not read Running with Scissors. I found her son's book more believable despite the truly crazy things that happened. And, quite frankly, I didn't like the flow of her book.

I effing hated this book but I'm glad I read it. I feel like now I know what a Bukowski novel is and that I'm really glad that progress has happened.

kinda quirky short stories. a couple of good standout stories, but the others all start to all sound the same after a while. i think my fav is 'swim team'- about a young woman teaching three old people to swim. in her apartment. no water. oh and check out the website the author made to promote this book- it's hilarious and actually made me want to buy a copy. although i really wanted the pink cover, but stupid amazon didn't offer a choice. http://noonebelongsheremorethanyou.com/

I read about this book partly because my cousin chose to have home births with her 2 daughters, and I never really understood why. This book helps enlighten those of us who have been brought up to understand the hospital as the sole method of care. While I don't think this book convinced me that that would be my choice for childbirth, it did give me some insight as the benefits and decisions mothers make in choosing to have a baby at home.

I really have no idea what's going on with this one. There are some overall arc nuggets buried in here but all I can do is hope that this side story pays off somehow. That doesn't mean this isn't an entertaining book. Far from it. The Edur story is blah and bleh but the action in Lether is first rate, especially Tehol Beddict, who's not as irritating as Kruppe. But if you don't get into the back and forth between him and Bugg, you'll have a lot to endure as the series continues. In the next book, at least. This one also carries on with a lot of exposition about the nature of women and the difference between the sexes that got laid down a bit in Memories of Ice. I'm not sure what's up with that.

This book confused me. It made me hate characters I thought I loved and love characters I thought I hated. It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me mad, and OH MAN THERE WAS A TON OF SEX!! Great story. Off to see if I can snag the next one from the library. 4 solid stars. The only thing that didn't make it a home run for me was the fact that I had to like a character I wanted to hate. But it was done really well. And they fell into bed a bit too quick for me. Personal preferences though. Great read.
