Admittedly, I'm late to the Dennis Lehane canon. Picked this one up for a Florida trip, and wasn engrossed immediately. The PI team of Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are flesh and blood compelling, and apparently anchor a series of books. Ben Afleck made one of them, Gone Baby Gone, a movie. Well plotted, explosive and gritty. I'm sold, and will get more.

I picked this book randomly off the the library shelf, but as I am reading I am starting to think it is part of a series about a psychologist in Boulder, CO and this book is NOT the first in the series. The author is referencing several other scenarios that the psychologist has already battled. It's okay for a suspense novel.

Amazing. Fantastic. Many other superlatives. Read it. [2005 review.] This book is awesome. One of the best I've read in ages, or at least one of the most innovative. This is a fascinating, thinky, complex, unusual book and I've had tons of great discussions about it with friends already, which is one of the marks of a good book, imho. The book is made up of six interlocking stories in different eras and genres, and there are all sorts of subtle and interesting thematic threads tying them together and it's just awesome. (I was a tad disappointed by the, um, main unifying device, but it's not a dealbreaker.) I HIGHLY recommend it. (Also I saw the author give a reading from it and he was funny and cool.) (And hot.)
An interesting look at a strange piece of Southern culture (there are many).
These books are so much fun. I'm definitely thinking I'll finish reading all of them before the week is over. Love it.

I was probably not culturally prepared to understand quite a bit of this, but I think I'll pick up on more in the next read. Meanwhile, someone talk to me about it so I can straighten out my thoughts.

Importance of being earnest, sincere, loyal, and a true gentleman. All women who wonder where the gentlemen have gone should watch the movie at the very least... All men can learn chivalry (then read some guidebooks for added advice on becoming a gentlemen).

One of the best books I've read on accepting yourself. Definitely recommend. I'd let you borrow my copy but it's too marked up. :)

I love this book. Stretching is a great way to start and end your day and it's worth knowing how to do it the right way.

I've heard good things about this book for a couple of years. Recently my book club decided to read it. I'm glad we did! I'm going through a challenging time right now and as I read it, I realized that the author is correct when he states that our trials are given to us to help us become closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. For that reason, I am grateful for the hard times--although I'm looking forward to less stress sometime in the future. This book is a modern day parable. It's about a man named Rick whose marriage is falling apart. He believes it's his wife's fault. As his marriage crumbles around him, he is blessed to have a visit from his beloved dead grandfather. His grandfather shares an important message about repentance, forgiveness, and the infinite gift of the atonement. I read this book over a three day period. I would literally fall asleep thinking about its message. I found myself reflecting upon the message of Abigail and Jonah throughout the day. The atonement has taken on a richer meaning as a result of this book. This is a book that can easily be read more than once.
