Skip it. Good eye exercise, but nothing stimulating here.

** spoiler alert ** I think this was a very beautifully spelled out book with a marvellous structure. Lots of girls can relate to Prinny Murphy's experiences on many different levels.

Never in my life have I been more frustrated with a story. It was painful to finish. Really, really painful.

Ok...I will give it 4 stars. I wasnt expecting to like it at all, but I was pleasantly surprised how drawn I was into the characters...although the ending seemed to come up quite abruptly to me.

"Galapagos" is, as far as I can tell, when Kurt Vonnegut decided to become "Kurt Vonnegut." This book feels like an imperfect parody of Vonnegut's style. It's not _bad_, per se, it's just not very good. Narrated from 1 million years in the future, by Kilgore Trout's son, this book has flashes of real resonance, like when Leon Trout speaks of his time in Vietnam. All in all, however, the entire thing feels misanthropic in a way that definitely would have appealed to me back in junior high, but feels rather fake and forced 15 years later. Stick to "Cat's Cradle" and "Slaughterhouse-5", I'd say.

Great start, ending literally made me scream with disappointment. I was so mad that I wrote a letter to King!

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again." Perhaps one of the most famous and haunting open lines of all of literature that effectively sets the tone for what is a whirlwind book of suspense, horror, and intrigue. You'll become acquainted with Mrs. Danvers, Maxim de Winters... and a heroine central to this novel even though she is already dead by the time the novel begins: Rebecca. In fact, the narrator is never named nor revealed. Alfred Hitchcock actually adapted this novel into a film... well worth the read!
