Okay, here we go.. I finished this series a few days ago.. for time and my eyesights sake I'm writing my review for the entire series, right here for the "last" book... so if you're an idiot and reading them out of order or something, don't read this.. I'll probably spoil something, and now if I do it's your fault, not mine. Furthermore... this series was a great read. Each book flows well into the next, and effectively leaves you panting/scraping/dying for the next installment. I've seen people asking a lot about what 'kind' of story this is, romance? paranormal? adventure?... it's all of the above.. does is have sex? Yes, and its great.. and well worth the teasing and torture to get to it... is it a porno in novel form? No, and do I love those as well? Yes... but this series seems to get it all just right. Just the right amount of everything to get you from page to page and dying for more. The content away from the romance aspect of the book is so well written and methodically twisted that during those times in the book while some of us are desperate for the next Barrons or V'lane cameo, you almost forget all about them and get re-wrapped up in the adventure portions. Mackayla Lane is a great character. She's annoyingly bimbo-y (yep... i said it, a non-existant word)and naive... but develops, over the course of all 5 books, into someone of character and worth... no longer just the pretty face. I know a lot of books have that kind of character, but this one worked so well.. because the character didn't just develop for development sake. After reading the entire series, you understand why she develops, and are right there with her while she hits these monumental bumps in the road and can understand why and how she's become who she has at the end of the series... which in turn makes it all the more tangible for the reader. Woo... that all came out kind of ridiculous. Onto Jericho Barrons....holy goodness...I fell in love with him, heck yes. It was great though, because I sort of crashed into love with this character. As opposed to other series that I've read, in the beginning of this one, you dont WANT to love Barrons.. you dont know that you ARE going to love Barrons.. it just hits you at some point (for me I believe it was right between him tell her he gets hard-ons for spoiled brats and the vengeful, lust-filled, "almost" sex scene towards the end of Bloodfever) The reason I continue to love Barrons, however, is because even after you know his vulnerabilities.. his weaknesses... nothing about him changes. His attitude, his demeanor, his entire persona is still as it was in the beginning.. when you DIDN'T want to love him. And THAT is something I can appreciate, conistency of character. As for the plot line; the meat and potatos of the book.. I give it a 5 star rating. There wasn't a single moment during the series where I went "Really? That's what you've come up with?"... and even in some of my favorite series' that's happened.. does it take away from the entire book? Not always... but when I come across something that doesn't have one of those moments, I know it was a great read. I am thoroughly excited for the coming spin-off series that I've heard about through the grapevine.. and can only hope they are as deliciously addictive as the Fever series has been. And of course... some more Jericho wouldn't hurt... then again, that's what my bachelorette party is for, right?
