I found this book in the library of my elementary school when I was in fifth grade. The Story of Henry Sugar was my favorite story of all time, and I believe that reading this story was what taught me that books can change your life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from Richard Branson. This is a good inspirational and motivating book that is very easy to read. I knew that there were a number of Virgin companies prior to reading this book, however I was not aware of how many different industries Virgin is involved with (music, mobile, space travel, planes, trains, finance, health clubs, ...). The culture of Virgin is a key component of the why the Virgin companies have been successful. Whilst there is not a step by step guide for how to build a successful company, there are many useful insights and lessons learnt. Caring and Encouraging your people, Customer-focus, Innovation, Embracing leadership, Fun, Learning from mistakes and Social Responsibility are key attributes I now associate with the Virgin brand.

Wow. This was not what I expected. I have read books similar to this (48 Laws of Power) and seen plenty of movies that use bits and pieces from it. However, it is dryer than the Sahara Desert. It may have been that I didn't like it because it was reading at school, but I just couldn't seem to get into it. Good thing it was short because I about threw the assignment in the trash. I'm sorry students. I didn't know this would suck so bad. --Sidenote: The contents of the book make sense. It is a perfect read for my dictatorship class...

I love the way Anne Holm helps you to feel and understand through David's eyes. The humanity of becoming a living being in spite of the torture and cruelty of the camps gives the reader a clear sense of hope. Don't give up.

This was my textbook for my "learn to read German in a month and a half and cross off that pesky requirement" class. It is OK for people who are trying to read German and don't care about speaking it, but the exercises and passages always throw in grammatical concepts that haven't been introduced yet, and that makes it hard on readers with questions. I was thankful that I had some previous knowledge of the language from a slow semester of spoken German. A year later, my vocabulary is small and I would definitely need a dictionary and grammar to work my way through a passage in German, but that's why they call it "reading knowledge," right?

Does this count as memoir? Some of it does, but it's at least half comedy bits. Disappointingly short, but I guess part of comedy is leaving the audience wanting more.

This set accurately contains the three books i read before giving up on this sprawling, disorganized scam of a series. Well written technically, but chaotic and sloppy in terms of the broad story. Robert jordan had the last laugh on all those who stuck with this neverending series. He up and died on them.

Sad story about a mom dying of cancer and leaving behind a teenage daughter. The ending was a surprise as everyone left behind was coping with secrets about the daughter's birth. Good book, recommend it!

Starts so nice. You know what's coming, but you don't really think too much about it. Everything seems like it'll be fine. And then okay. And then alright. And then they'll-hang-in-there. And then holy.... And then HOLY HELL! And then a lot more of that. And more still. And only when you REALLY start to fear for them, resolution to the rescue. Eggers, you got me again!
